Full-Time | Continuing Higher Education Officer Level 8 – Final salary will be commensurate with experience Location: Bedford Park / Kaurna Country View Position Description About the Role The Senior Security Operations Engineer is responsible for implementing cyber security initiatives across the University and carrying out and implementing specialised cyber security controls, services, and activities, along with supporting the research and evaluation of procedural and technical controls and solutions that can be applied to provide security to the University’s IT networks and systems. You will work closely with other practitioners and teams to ensure the ongoing security and effectiveness of the University’s network and system assets, and the stable and continuous operation of the University’s mission-critical systems and applications. Key position responsibilities include: Configuring, deploying and maintaining new and existing security platforms, including email filtering, firewall, intrusion prevention/detection systems, and VPN and host protection systems. Managing the ongoing application of the IDS risk register, identifying and ensuring the management of key risks that may impact on the security of the University’s systems and networks. Supporting with identifying technological trends and developing reports as necessary to keep IDS management apprised of information security threats and planned equipment or software changes that could impact system and network security and availability. Providing support on security matters relating to disaster recovery and business continuity, ensuring that disaster recovery plans and business continuity plans appropriately address security requirements in maintaining the provision of services. Identifying, managing and mitigating risks related to the activities being undertaken by the role in line with IDS and Flinders University policies and procedures. A more comprehensive list of duties is available from the Position Description About You As this is a senior role, you will be expected to possess high level strategic thinking, planning and analytical skills to support outcomes and meet strategic goals and can perform system administration and/or network management roles at journeyman or higher practitioner levels. You have a broad understanding of IT security in the context of higher education environment, with particular reference to systems, networks and applications that are used and how these relate to attaining a good cybersecurity posture and are experienced in agile ways of working. With exemplary interpersonal influence and demonstrated ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with staff and customers across a diverse organisation particularly during the design, management and implementation of customer solutions, your relationship management skills are second to none.  An industry recognized security certification, for example CISSP, CISM, CISA, SSCP, CEH, CRISC, GIAC or equivalent is advantageous About Information and Digital Services  Information and Digital Services (IDS) are a pivotal resource of the University, providing information and digital technology services and support to the Flinders University staff and student community. Description The Instructional Designer (Teaching & Learning Innovation) works in close partnership with the Teaching and Learning Specialist and faculty and academic staff to design, implement, and evaluate innovative teaching and assessment practices. The role supports the thoughtful integration of AI and other emerging technologies as part of a broader effort to enhance student learning and advance discipline-specific thinking. Central to the role is ensuring that technology is used in ways that complement and augment, rather than replace, student learning, motivation, and intellectual effort. Grounded in evidence-based teaching and learning principles, this position focuses on translating pedagogical strategies into practical course designs, assignments, and assessments that strengthen foundational skills, critical thinking, and student engagement. The role emphasizes hands-on collaboration with faculty to pilot new approaches, adapt assignments and assessments in response to evolving learning contexts, and develop scalable models of instructional innovation. The Instructional Designer for Learning Innovation reports to the Director of the Hilary Ballon Center for Teaching and Learning.
