Marian College Kuttikkanam was created in 1995 by the Roman Catholic diocese of Kanjirappally. Affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, it was accredited by the Universities Grants Committee within eight years of its foundation. It attained autonomous status in 2016. It is still a small university with just under 2,000 students. Faculties include business administration and management, commerce, computer application, communications and media, economics, English, maths, physics and social work. Since 2016 it has been committed to a policy of "outcome based education". Other distinctive features include courses in communicative English emphasising literature, communication and journalism and management, with an annual intake of 180 students.

About the position This is a critical leadership role within La Trobe’s Integrity Office, focused on strengthening a safe, respectful and accountable university environment. Reporting to the Director, Integrity Office, the Manager, Safer Community and Student Conduct leads the University’s response to complex and sensitive matters involving student conduct, safer community, child safety and behavioural risk. You’ll oversee end-to-end case management and investigations—ensuring matters are handled with care, consistency and procedural fairness—while also providing trusted advice to senior leaders on risk, governance and institutional response. This role has a strong strategic lens, using data and insights to improve policy, systems and practice across the University, while also acting as the University’s Child Safety Officer. Key responsibilities Lead the intake, triage and investigation of complex student conduct and general misconduct matters Act as a key escalation point for high-risk issues including sexual harm, family violence and child safety concerns Provide expert advice and reporting to senior stakeholders on policy, governance and risk management Ensure responses are trauma-informed, procedurally fair and aligned with legislation and policy Drive continuous improvement across safer community and student conduct frameworks and governance Build strong internal and external partnerships (e.g. Victoria Police, support agencies, sector networks) Analyse trends and deliver insights to inform strategic and timely decision-making and policy development Lead and support a high-performing team, building capability and best practice in investigation and case management Fulfil Child Safety Officer responsibilities, ensuring compliance with Child Safe Standards and regulatory obligations About you You’re a confident, values-driven leader with deep experience leading complex investigations, risk management and sensitive casework. Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed-term appointment for 1 year, with a possibility of further renewal subject to funding Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde Research Fellow - Underwater Wireless Communications The Role: An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and motivated researcher to join Macquarie University's School of Engineering and contribute to the project "Secure, Long-Range Underwater Acoustic Communications Using Delay-Doppler Waveforms and Adaptive Beamforming." The successful candidate will join a high-performing research team working at the intersection of wireless communications, signal processing, delay-Doppler communications and adaptive beamforming. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with researchers at Macquarie University and the University of Melbourne, and to contribute to a project in secure, long-range underwater acoustic communications. The appointee will undertake research in waveform and algorithm design, modelling and simulation, and performance evaluation for challenging underwater acoustic communication environments. The role will also contribute to technical reporting, publications and collaborative research activities across the project team.
