About Mahsa University

Mahsa (Malaysian Allied Health Sciences Academy) was established in 2004 to create a centre of healthcare and academic excellence in South-East Asia. By 2013, it had become Mahsa University.

The private university’s growth has been rapid. In 2007, the student population was 7,000. Today, more than 10,000 students are enrolled in over 70 programmes ranging from certificates and diplomas to bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees over its multiple campuses and its international college in Kuala Lumpur. 

Mahsa has diversified its offering beyond medicine into other fields such as business, accounting, IT and multimedia, engineering, arts and design. It also has programmes in sectors including healthcare, retail, IT and hospitality. To support its entrepreneurial students, the university has an incubation hub.

The student population is diverse, with students from 75 countries, many from the Asian region but also some from as far away as Australia, the UK, the US and Canada.

Mahsa has a one-stop student mobility hub that assists students with numerous global mobility options such as study abroad schemes, and student, internship and research exchanges.

With the University of East London, Mahsa has a dual-award partnership in which students who successfully complete the requirements of the course are awarded a degree from both Mahsa and UEL.

Description The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES), together with the Division of Engineering, Civil and Urban Engineering Program, at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Post-doctoral Associate in the broad area of geotechnical engineering. Research Project: The successful candidate will contribute to a research project focused on the development, testing, and analysis of resilient geotechnical systems. The work will rely on centrifuge modeling, geotechnical laboratory testing, and complementary numerical simulations to improve understanding of soil behavior and geotechnical system performance for infrastructure, energy, and sustainability applications. The Post-Doctoral Associate will be expected to: Perform and interpret geotechnical laboratory tests to support the experimental program. Plan, design, conduct, and analyze centrifuge model experiments. Contribute to the design and development of experimental setups and apparatus, with SolidWorks experience considered an advantage. Publish research findings in high-quality peer-reviewed journals. Work collaboratively with faculty, postdoctoral researchers, students, and other members of a multidisciplinary research team. Required Qualifications: Applicants must hold a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field, with less than 5 years post-recieving the PhD, and with research experience in one or more of the following areas: Geotechnical laboratory testing, including soil characterization, sample preparation, mechanical testing, and experimental data analysis. Centrifuge experimental modeling, including test design, execution, instrumentation, data collection, and result interpretation. Preferred: Experience with CAD and modeling tools, such as SolidWorks, for experimental design and apparatus development. Applications are invited for a Research Fellow position with Responsible AI UK (RAi UK), based at the University of Southampton. The post is full-time for 20 months, with potential for extension. The post holder will not be required to be based at Southampton but must be able to meet in person with the team once a week. You will join Responsible AI UK, a £31 million UKRI-funded national programme spanning 28 UK universities and over 150 partner organisations across academia, industry, government and civil society. RAi UK is one of the largest responsible AI research programmes in the UK, working at the interface of interdisciplinary research, policy and practice. You will work alongside the CEO, Professor Sarvapali (Gopal) Ramchurn, and the RAi UK leadership team. About the role This is an opportunity for an experienced postdoctoral researcher to work at the heart of one of the UK’s largest responsible AI programmes. The post holder will translate technical outputs from across the RAi UK portfolio and the wider Responsible AI landscape into clear, evidence-based policy advice for government, industry and the public. The research will focus on: Agentic AI systems and their governance Physical AI and its integration with real-world systems Measurement and evaluation of agentic AI performance The implications of these technologies for government, industry and the wider public The post holder will design and convene roundtables, workshops and events with senior stakeholders across UK government, regulators, industry, civil society and international partners. They will synthesise findings into white papers, policy briefings and consultation responses, and will represent RAi UK at national and international policy fora. Our research staff have the opportunity to develop industry-relevant applied research capabilities while contributing to impactful projects that address real-world operational needs. We are seeking a Research Engineer to join an applied research project focused on the development of an embodied AI robotic system for urban infrastructure inspection and maintenance. The project involves the design, integration, and validation of robotic mechanisms, sensing systems, and automated workflows for outdoor infrastructure maintenance applications.The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary research team and industry partners to investigate, prototype, test, and implement practical robotic solutions that can operate in real-world environments and support more efficient, safe, and scalable infrastructure maintenance. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and integrate customised mechanical mechanisms for robotic systems, including robotic end-effectors, grippers, tool-changing interfaces, material handling systems, and task-specific automation modules. Develop 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical documentation using SolidWorks. Perform mechanical design analysis and engineering calculations, including load estimation, actuator sizing, structural integrity, tolerance analysis, and vibration/shock mitigation. Ensure mechanical designs are compatible with robotic arms, mobile platforms, sensors, and mechatronic systems, considering payload, reachability, safety, manufacturability, and maintainability. Build, assemble, and commission mechanical prototypes and experimental robotic systems. Conduct laboratory and field testing, analyse results, troubleshoot issues, and implement design improvements through iterative development. Source and evaluate commercial components, and work with vendors, fabricators, and contractors to support fabrication and assembly. Support field deployments and technology demonstrations with industry partners. Prepare technical reports, design documentation, test reports, risk assessments, and project deliverables. To liaise and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisor. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related discipline. Strong hands-on experience in mechanical design, prototyping, fabrication, and system integration. Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling, assembly design, and engineering documentation. Good understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering analysis. Experience working with robotic systems, sensors, actuators, or mechatronic systems is advantageous. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams. Willingness to conduct laboratory and field testing when required.
