Deliver financial services aligned with strategic priorities, driving continuous improvement in financial processes, and actively contribute to shaping business decisions. They also provide authoritative financial guidance and risk management expertise and actively participate in the development and enhancement of finance-related policies and procedures. The Finance Manager works under broad direction, translating accountabilities into tasks to deliver against goals. They are a subject matter expert, provide sound advice and recommendations, resolve complex matters and escalated issues related to their responsibilities. Reporting to the School Manager and supporting the Head of Clinical School, the Finance Manager leads planning and operational committees, overseeing financial matters for the School of Rural Health's budget with increasing complexity and strategic importance. They manage the School of Rural Health's (Dubbo/Orange) reporting and compliance ensuring accurate information on university systems and adherence to work area requirements. The Finance Manager works in collaboration with other members of the leadership team and provides support to the School of Rural Health (SRH) in relation to their portfolio area. This position will work with other School staff to support and enhance rural research activity, student placements and multidisciplinary learning experiences in rural areas in accordance with the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program parameters, Murray Darling Medical Schools Network (MDMSN) Program funding and Sydney Medical Program (SMP). This position ensures compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory controls and ensures a safe working environment for all staff and students in accordance with The University of Sydney policy. This position is located at Dubbo. Travel between Dubbo and Orange is a requirement of this position with infrequent travel to Sydney. Description The Water Research Center (WRC) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Research Scientist to work on advanced membrane technologies for desalination. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Raed Hashaikeh. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research on functional membrane development at both bench and pilot scales. The research focuses on the development of advanced functional materials and processes for sustainable water treatment and desalination. This research is conducted within the Water Research Center (WRC) at NYUAD and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams across mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, and physics. The candidate will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities and will contribute to projects spanning fundamental materials development to applied pilot-scale systems. Responsibilities of the position include conducting experimental and/or analytical research on membrane-based desalination technologies (e.g., reverse osmosis, forward osmosis, nanofiltration, membrane distillation), developing novel functional materials, designing and executing lab and field studies, analyzing and interpreting data, contributing to publications and patents, and presenting research findings at meetings and conferences. The candidate will also collaborate with local and international research partners and may participate in limited teaching or mentoring activities. Candidate Qualification and Experience Requirements Candidates must hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field, with at least 6 years of relevant experience in their field (not including the years obtaining the PhD). The ideal candidate will have a strong publication record, including first-author papers, and demonstrated experience in membrane fabrication and characterization. Familiarity with analytical techniques such as XRD, TGA, DSC, DMA, BET, and porometry is highly desirable. Background in analytical or organic chemistry is an asset. Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
