Responsibilities include the delivery of academic administration, student support and ensuring high levels of customer service and student satisfaction. You will be instrumental in ensuring that the student experience of administrative services on your portfolio of courses and programmes is effective, consistent and of a high standard. You will work very closely with academic staff (e.g. Course Directors and Module Leaders) to ensure that the student experience is effective, consistent and of a high standard. About You We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated administrator, with a passion for high quality customer service. You will be IT literate, including Microsoft packages and database applications. Ideally, you will have experience of academic administration, preferably within a Higher Education Institution, and of working with regulations. You will have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail and excellent communication skills. Proven analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills are a must. Description The Smart Materials Lab (Panče Naumov Group) in the Division of Science and Mathematics, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit an associate research scientist to work on crystal structure determination using electron or X-ray crystallography. Candidates must have substantial experience in crystallography, specifically in the structure solution and refinement of small molecule crystals using either electron or X-ray diffraction techniques. While candidates with experience in structure analysis based on powder diffraction, neutron diffraction, or scattering data will also be considered, preference will be given to those with expertise in electron diffraction. Candidates should be capable of preparing samples, independently collecting data, and solving and refining crystal structures, including those that are theoretically and experimentally challenging, such as structures that exhibit twinning, disorder, or that change or decay over time. Proficiency in refining structures from electron diffraction data collected using a microscope or specialized equipment is preferred. The position is for two years, with the possibility of renewal, subject to mutual agreement. The successful candidate is also expected to play an active role in other projects and activities within the Smart Materials Lab and assist in supervising undergraduate or PhD students. Applicants must hold a PhD with at least 3 years of experience in chemistry, physics, materials science, or a related field, with a focus on crystallography. Clinical research in Mood Disorders The Faculty of Medicine and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are collaborating in a clinical research study, led locally by Professor David Baldwin, investigating the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation in patients with depression. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with strong research and organisational skills to develop their expertise. The post involves undergoing training in certain psychopathological rating scales, providing study information and assessing potential study participants, monitoring participant progress during the study, entering data into on-line systems, assisting with study awareness-raising, and attendance at local and national research team meetings. The appointee joins an existing research team, working on this and other studies. They would ensure that the study is undertaken in accordance with Good Clinical Practice and other regulatory standards.
