About the role We are looking to recruit a Senior Lecturer in Public Policy to work within the School for Government at King’s. This role will be a senior member of the academic staff of the school and contribute to the academic life of the School, as well as the wider Policy Institute, of which we are a part. The candidate will be expected to have, and to build, an active research pipeline in their chosen field. They will be supported to bid for and deliver research grants and contracts and will also be encouraged and supported to supervise doctoral students, and to play an active and leading role in the Policy Institute’s Doctoral Programme, Executive Education programmes, or another strategic domain. The role requires an experienced individual who understands the contribution of continuing professional development and executive education for public servants. The candidate will have knowledge of the policy sector in the UK, and preferably experience working in the public sector. The postholder will have an excellent teaching record and the ability to develop innovative teaching content and delivery methods. Experience of online content delivery is ideal but not essential. This is an exciting time for the School for Government, and so we welcome candidates with an entrepreneurial approach to their work. This is a full-time post, and you will be offered an indefinite contract. About you To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria A PhD in a relevant subject. An excellent track record of publications in a relevant field including public policy, public administration, economics, or political science. A research agenda relevant to the school’s work in ensuring a world led with intelligence, integrity and innovation. Having supervised at least one doctoral student. Evidence of high-quality teaching provided to undergraduate and/or postgraduate students. Evidence of significant contributions made to administrative work. Evidence of building relationships and networks with colleagues and stakeholders internally and externally. Ability to positively influence decisions affecting their own work and the work of the team/colleagues. Desirable criteria Experience of online content delivery. Teaching and examining experience. Experience in attracting external research funds. International standing in the field. About the role The Senior Programme Officer works as part of a team to ensure consistent support and delivery of the Strand Group and SfG’ s residential, online and blended taught provision, providing high quality logistical administrative support. The postholder will be responsible for delivering outstanding customer experience to relevant stakeholders throughout the student life cycle. The post holder will be resolving complex day-to-day issues, responding in line with university Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). They will represent the Policy Institute externally with students and clients, and internally through wider university activities and committees, supporting the School’s interests and engaging with university functions. The postholder will lead on the onboarding of new students, working closely with central teams to ensure a smooth and engaging start to their studies, coordinate assessments and results processing, maintain accurate student data, and will organise and manage events such as inductions and webinars. The role requires excellent communication and organisational skills, strong digital literacy, and the ability to manage competing priorities.  This role will present exciting opportunities to work with a small and collaborative team and together support a growing portfolio of online, blended and residential education offerings. About you  To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:  Essential criteria Broad vocational experience, acquired through a combination of job-related vocational training and considerable on-the-job experience, demonstrating development through involvement in a series of progressively more demanding relevant work/roles.  Clear and accurate communication style both written and verbal Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Forms and databases, Zoom/Teams and virtual learning management systems such as Moodle Experience in the use of databases and student records systems (such as SITS) to provide management information data to a high level of detail and accuracy Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work. Ability to plan own workload, work to tight deadlines and manage multiple projects, reprioritising or adapting as necessary Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders  Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Desirable criteria Experience of managing and delivering a portfolio of taught provision, with a proactive and transparent approach and a focus on improvement Experience working on custom closed education projects with a long-term client or partner organisation. Since our foundation in 1982, we have contributed to the theoretical advancement of translation and interpreting studies, whilst achieving real-world applicability by studying translation and interpreting as socio-technological practices, highlighting their economic and social value and their role as an enabling force for a globally connected world.  We are seeking a Research Fellow to support research and impact activities in an evolving strand of work focused on improving accessible communication for people with learning disabilities and other underserved audiences, particularly in audiovisual and cultural contexts. The postholder will contribute to translating research insights into practical tools, guidance and training, building on established collaborations with charities, cultural organisations and industry partners, and complementing our wider research in media accessibility. About you The successful candidate will have a strong interest in inclusive and accessible communication, experience supporting impact activities and stakeholder engagement, and excellent communication and organisational skills. A clear understanding of research impact and knowledge exchange is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively with academic and non-academic partners.
