Clinical research in Mood Disorders The Faculty of Medicine and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are collaborating in a clinical research study, led locally by Professor David Baldwin, investigating the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation in patients with depression. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with strong research and organisational skills to develop their expertise. Description The Mubadala Arabian Center for Climate and Environmental Sciences (Mubadala ACCESS), New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit an Associate Research Scientist to support a major NYU Abu Dhabi-OceanX initiative focused on advancing coral reef monitoring, applied research and regional capacity building across Southeast Asia, with particular emphasis on Malaysia. The successful applicant will play a central role in coordinating and implementing a multi-year coral reef monitoring and training program across Southeast Asia. The Associate Research Scientist will contribute to the design, coordination, and delivery of annual field missions aboard the RV OceanXplorer, support the implementation of standardized reef monitoring protocols, and deliver hands-on training programs for regional partners. The position includes supporting pre and post mission workshops, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and contributing to the development of regional scientific networks. The Associate Research Scientist will also assist in organizing an annual Southeast Asia learning exchange hosted at NYU Abu Dhabi, supporting agenda development, training sessions in reef monitoring and data analysis, and coordination with university administrative units. A key component of the role involves contributing to the organization and management of data and metadata systems associated with Southeast Asian reef monitoring activities conducted in partnership with OceanX. The candidate will support standardized data workflows, quality control, documentation, and the development of open-access products tailored to researchers, decision-makers, NGOs, and public audiences. The role further includes supporting reporting, communications, and stakeholder coordination across NYUAD, OceanX, Dalio Philanthropies, and regional partners. The Associate Research Scientist will contribute to progress updates, annual reports, stakeholder briefings, and public-facing communication materials in collaboration with NYUAD and OceanX Communications teams. The position is based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with regular travel to Southeast Asia during mission and training periods. Applicants must hold a PhD in Marine Biology, Marine Science, Coral Reef Ecology, or a closely related field, with at least 3 years of relevant experience in their field (not including the years obtaining the PhD or equivalent terminal degree). About You Essential An undergraduate degree or equivalent in Engineering, Energy Management, Building Services, Environmental Management or another related subject. Experience in working in the energy and water sector in a management role, or for a university as a senior energy manager for an organisation of similar size and operations with high autonomy in decision-making and ability to influence a broad range of stakeholders. Knowledge of broader sustainability issues such as waste, travel and transport and behaviour change theory and its application to carbon reduction in the University. Maintain a working knowledge of the energy market and its regulatory framework and provide recommendations on energy procurement options that meet long term cost and carbon reductions and achieves energy supply and cost security. Liaise with the Finance Department and the Estates and Facilities Directors to produce energy account statements for monthly and quarterly meetings. Produce detailed analysis of historical data/ usage versus spend/ budget and identify anomalies and errors. Identify and advise via regular meetings, accrual requirements to the Finance Department. Proactively contribute to the communications of the Sustainability Team by maintaining related internal and external communications (e.g. web pages, SharePoint, social media channels), responding to queries, presenting to students, writing reports and providing briefings and presentations for relevant committees/groups etc. Champion the energy achievements of the University to staff and students and to outside organisations. Support the implementation of the various Environmental and Sustainability related policies and strategies from an energy perspective, including the maintenance of the ISO 5001 and 14001 accredited environmental management system once implemented.
