Ref.: 536131 Work type: Full-time Department: School of Modern Languages and Cultures (05100) Categories: Teaching Staff Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer in Bahasa Indonesia (Global and Area Studies) in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (Ref.: 536131), to commence on September 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and availability of funding. This appointment supports the School’s strategic expansion in Southeast Asian Studies and responds to strong student interest in Bahasa Indonesia and the region. The appointee will contribute to language teaching, help shape the developing Southeast Asian Studies concentration within the undergraduate Global and Area Studies programme, and will also support preparations for the future establishment of a new Centre for Southeast Asian Studies in the School. Applicants for the post of Lecturer should possess a relevant Master’s degree and at least 5 years of experience teaching Bahasa Indonesia to non-native speakers at the tertiary level. Applicants for the post of Assistant Lecturer should possess a relevant Master’s degree and at least 3 years of relevant teaching experience at the tertiary level. Preference will be given to candidates with a relevant Ph.D. (or nearing completion) and the ability to teach content courses related to Indonesian and Southeast Asian history, culture, or society. Applicants should be native or near native speakers of Bahasa Indonesia with excellent English communication skills, and be conversant with current trends in language teaching, assessment, and the use of AI in teaching and learning. The appointee will be expected to teach Bahasa Indonesia at various levels, develop course materials and assessments, and undertake related administrative duties. Research activities are encouraged. Role Overview As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The SIT Centre for Intelligent Robotics is a strategic capability centre under RoboPrecinct@Punggol Digital District (PDD), responsible for developing and maintaining the core applied robotics and embodied AI capabilities required for precinct-level deployment of robotic systems. The centre is seeking a Robotics Engineer. This role is application-driven and system-oriented, focusing on the implementation, adaptation, and evaluation of state-of-the-art robotics algorithms on real robotic platforms. The successful candidate will work closely with physical robots and simulation environments to translate recent advances in learning-based robotics into robust, deployable systems. Key Responsibilities Implement, adapt, and evaluate state-of-the-art learning-based methods for robotic perception, decision-making, navigation, and manipulation. Apply reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and other skill learning frameworks to practical robotic applications. Integrate learning-based robot skills with full robot software stacks in ROS / ROS 2 environments. Develop and maintain perception and state representation pipelines using RGB-D and 3D sensing. Conduct simulation-to-real (Sim2Real) workflows, including data collection, model training, deployment, and testing on physical robots. Support system-level experimentation, benchmarking, and iterative improvement of embodied AI applications. Provide mentorship to undergraduate students in projects. Carry out risk assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and implementation guides to support knowledge transfer and long-term maintainability. Contribute to publications and technical notes to disseminate research outcomes. The employee is to communicate with any internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other adhoc duties assigned by supervisor. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field. Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. Working knowledge of reinforcement learning, imitation learning, or learning-based control concepts. Familiarity with robotics simulation tools such as Gazebo, Isaac Lab, or MuJoCo. Practical experience with ROS or ROS 2 for real-robot software integration. Proficiency in Python and C++, with experience developing and maintaining production-level code. At least 2 years of experience in robotics research or industry projects. Preferred Skillsets (Advantageous) Experience working with mobile manipulators, humanoid robots, or quadruped robots. Exposure to motion planning, control frameworks, or whole-body control systems. Experience with real-world robot experimentation and deployment. Experience with embodied AI and robot manipulation benchmarking platforms such as LIBERO, ManiSkill, or RLBench is highly desirable. Knowledge of GPU architectures, GPU cloud computing services, and strong familiarity with Linux operating systems. Location: SIT Punggol Campus Job Type: Contract Experience Level: 3+ years relevant experience (preferred) About Us: Autonomous Systems Advanced Intelligence Laboratory (ASAIL) is at the forefront of developing next-generation unmanned aerial capabilities for the public safety sector. We are bridging the gap between commercial drone hardware and the demanding requirements of law enforcement and security operations. Our mission is to enhance the safety and effectiveness of personnel through intelligent, resilient, and autonomous aerial systems. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Research Engineer to lead the applied research and development of advanced control augmentation techniques for Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) drones. This role focuses on pushing the limits of COTS hardware by integrating sophisticated software and edge computing solutions. The Role: As our Research Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of augmentation software, from theoretical design and simulation to real-world proof-of-concept demonstrations. You will work on a portfolio of critical enhancements, including advanced navigation algorithms, swarm intelligence, cyber security hardening, and payload-specific control systems. Key Responsibilities: Control Augmentation Development: Design, implement, and tune advanced control augmentation techniques (e.g., model predictive control, adaptive control) to enhance the stability and agility of COTS drones under dynamic conditions. Swarm Intelligence: Develop and test decentralized swarm algorithms for coordinated area search, target tracking, and collaborative task allocation without reliance on constant ground control intervention. Cyber Security Enhancement: Research and implement mitigation strategies against common attack vectors on COTS platforms, including GPS spoofing, communication jamming, and protocol vulnerabilities. Develop hardened communication layers between the drone, edge device, and ground station. Payload-Specific Control: Integrate and tune control systems for mission-specific payloads (e.g., gimbaled cameras, spotlights, delivery mechanisms) to ensure stable operation and precise control during flight. Edge Computing Implementation: Architect and deploy machine learning and computer vision models directly onto onboard edge devices (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson) for real-time object detection, tracking, and autonomous decision-making. Proof-of-Concept Demonstration: Lead the integration of software onto physical drone platforms, conduct rigorous flight testing, and execute live demonstrations to validate performance against operational requirements. Documentation & Dissemination: Document research findings, software architectures, and test results. Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Required Qualifications & Expertise: Education: Honor’s degree (Master’s and Ph.D. preferred) in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
