Duties and Responsibilities To lead a team of training officers and research officers in the project and to make sure all the training and research deliverables are delivered on time Perform administrative roles and prepare regular reports to the funder, collaborators and directors Participate in teaching of professional training programmes and occasionally engage in public education activities of the Project Support and perform other duties as assigned Requirements Master’s Degree or above in Social Work, Gerontology, Mental Health, Psychology, Behavioral Health, Counselling, Management or related discipline At least 5-8 years’ relevant work experience in managing professional and public education project, preferably in medical and social work topics Good command of written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese) and English Knowledge in palliative care, family counseling, use of art, use of therapeutic groups and bereavement care would be an advantage Applicants with less experience or qualifications may be considered for appointment as Research Officer What We Offer The appointment will commence from as soon as possible on temporary basis until June 30, 2027, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. About us The role is located within the Addictions Department, Institute of Psychiatry Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN) at Kings’ College London (KCL). The Addictions Department has connections across the IoPPN and across clinical practice within the South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and its extensive addiction treatment services and wider mental healthcare provision with additional connections with King's College Hospital and Guy's and St Thomas's through the Kings Health Partners Academic Health Science Centre. About the role The role is as a part time research fellow working within the the STADi-HuM study team: STADi-HuM: The interrelationship between receipt of Specialist Treatment for problematic Alcohol or Drug use, Hospitalisation and Mortality in England: A national record linkage and clinical study. The post holder will hold a doctoral degree or equivalent in an addiction related topic and need to have expertise in working with data from the National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS), working with government and expertise in quantitative prediction modelling techniques. The post holder will be responsible for multiple study components. These include contribution to systematic reviewing of the existing literature, development of patient and public involvement and engagement pathways, qualitative interviewing and liaison with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) Office of Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID). The post holder will work closely with clinical colleagues in the South London and the Maudsley NHS Foundation trust to strengthen links between clinical practice and research. The post holder will have the opportunity to undertake bespoke methodological training courses and attend international conferences alongside opportunities to publish peer-reviewed articles, contribute to the teaching and learning programmes in the department, and gain additional development opportunities including supervision of postgraduate research students. The post holder will be supported to seek and identify additional sources of funding, contribute to the process of securing funds, manage and monitor research budgets with support for future career planning. This is a part time post (3 days / 21 hours per week), and will be offered an a fixed term contract for 2 years from 1st April 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter) Research staff at King’s are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development. We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Bacterial Evolution to join the UKRI FLF-funded research group of Dr Rachel Wheatley, based in the School of Biological Sciences at Queen's University Belfast. Species interactions are a fundamental component of bacterial infections. Yet, when, and how these interactions impact the response of a bacterial pathogen to antibiotics is currently not clear. The appointee for this position will study the ecological and evolutionary processes that drive the rise and fall of antibiotic resistance in bacterial communities. The appointee will be conducting experiments to investigate bacterial pathogen invasion and evolution within a microbiome, and the selection pressures on antibiotic resistance in this environment. We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in experimental microbiology, where experience in conducting high-throughput experiments and/or working with multi-species communities would be beneficial. This position provides an excellent opportunity for ambitious researchers with interests across evolutionary biology and microbial ecology, and the postholder will be embedded within an exciting and interdisciplinary network of AMR researchers at Queen's.
