These resources support research projects, teaching materials, curriculum design, and student skill development. The role oversees database selection, vendor relationships, contracts, payments, and compliance, while ensuring platforms remain relevant, cost effective, and aligned with Faculty priorities. Working closely with academic and professional staff, the Research Database Manager provides advice on database access, data extraction, project-specific data solutions, software and Gen AI use, and basic coding support for teaching and research. The role also promotes database capability through workshops, newsletters, and online forums, while reviewing usage, costs, and research outputs to drive continuous improvement and innovation. As the successful candidate, you will hold a PhD or relevant Masters/Honours qualification with equivalent professional experience in a related discipline, with demonstrated expertise in managing large datasets for research and educational purposes. You will bring experience in contract and budget management, strong technical skills in SAS, STATA, R, and Python, and excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships across staff, students, and external stakeholders. This will include lecturing at various undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and supervision of student research projects at undergraduate, Honours, Master’s and PhD levels. Who we are looking for – Selection Criteria: Essential Criteria: A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. astronomy, astrophysics, physics, statistics, or computer science). A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline and a record of contribution to the scholarship of teaching in the discipline. Demonstrated ability or potential to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. Demonstrable track record of high-quality publications, relative to opportunity. Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
