Part of the Lingaya’s Group of educational institutions, Lingayas Vidyapeeth University was founded in 1998, as Lingaya’s Institute of Management and Technology. In 2009, it was granted “deemed-to-be-university” status, becoming Lingaya’s University. Since then, it has adopted the name Lingayas Vidyapeeth, which translates roughly as “Lingaya’s seat of learning”.
Lingayas Vidyapeeth is in the town of Faridabad, in Delhi’s commuter belt: it is around 50km from Delhi, and accessible via the Delhi metro system. Surrounded by fields and trees, the campus itself is arranged around a broad green playing field.
Degrees are offered by 14 schools, ranging from engineering and technology, pharmacy and commerce and management to agriculture, fashion design and vocational studies.
The university provides separate hostels for men and women, with a choice of airconditioned or non-airconditioned rooms. Facilities include a swimming pool and transport for weekend outings.
Student clubs are organised by academic department. For example, the department of civil engineering runs a scientific-writing club and a geosustain stabilisation club; the school of education runs a women’s empowerment club; the school of journalism runs a photography club and a literature club.
