The role

An exciting opportunity for a Lecturer B Physician Associate PGDip (Maternity Cover) in the School of Health Sciences. This is a part time (21.6 hours/week) fixed term contract upto August 2026. 

You will have the opportunity to work closely with a small cohort of students to bring your practical and teaching expertise There will be lots of interaction with your students with face to face teaching, classroom and simulation alongside administrative tasks to support the delivery of the programme.

We are looking for people who are passionate about teaching and seeking an opportunity to work closely with the next generation of Physicians Associates. You will have a professional registration with either the GMC, HCPC, or NMC. You will have experience of PA education in a Higher Education Institution.

About the opportunity

The University of Sydney School of Dentistry (Sydney Dental School) is ranked amongst the top dental schools internationally and is one of the largest dental schools in Australia. It has campuses in the Sydney Dental Hospital (in inner-eastern Sydney), the Westmead Centre for Oral Health at Westmead Hospital (in western Sydney), the Nepean Centre for Oral Health, Campbelltown and Fairfield dental clinics (in south-western Sydney) and outreach service-based teaching is undertaken across the state of NSW.

The Practitioner in Dentistry Level B (Lecturer) will prepare students in clinical skills required to meet eligibility requirements for completion of a degree leading to professional registration. They will exercise professional judgement on routine clinical matters to teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students, including those on clinical placement. They should have a very strong clinical experience combined with an educational or management focus and may require or seek collaborative consultation for supervision from senior staff when performing novel, complex or critical tasks.

The Practitioner (Level B, Lecturer) roles in the Sydney Dental School are for general dentists with more than 3 years clinical experience in Australia who have already developed skills and competencies. They will generally hold primary employment (including self-employment) outside the University in public or private health settings. They will contribute to teaching and learning by applying their clinical experience to inform best practice teaching with a focus on coaching and developing students in the provision of best-practice patient care within a real or simulated clinical setting (including training in professional standards of the discipline) and related or incidental activities

The Practitioner in Dentistry Level C (Senior Lecturer) significantly contributes to clinical teaching and learning by applying their extensive clinical experience in developing and implementing contemporary, relevant and best-practice clinical skills teaching and assessment with a focus on coaching and developing students in the provision of best-practice patient care within a real or simulated clinical setting (including training in professional standards of the discipline) and related or incidental activities. They will teach and supervise mainly postgraduate students, but may also be involved in undergraduate teaching, including students on placement. They may be required to supervise/support Level 1 & 2 Practitioners and technical support staff as required.

The Practitioner (Level C, Senior Lecturer) roles in the Sydney Dental School are for Dental Specialists in leadership roles. They will generally hold primary employment (including self-employment) outside the University in public or private health settings.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

Level B:


	undertake teaching and training of students in clinical setting (which can include some but not solely teaching in a simulated clinical setting), applying clinical experience and expertise to inform best practice teaching
	deliver professional standards training and education to students to prepare them to meet eligibility requirements for completion of a degree leading to professional registration
	applies clinical knowledge and experience to inform high-quality patient care whilst also supervising the training of pre-registration students
	engage in high-quality clinical teaching and learning experiences which meet the University's expectations and standards for clinical education staff. This may involve delivering teaching to students whilst also delivering treatment to patient
	provides advice, mentoring, and guidance relevant to the stage of training to students to prepare them for engaging in clinical practice
	contributes to innovative clinical education practices to improve educational outcomes
	contribute to the development of assessment material and undertake contemporaneous sessional assessment with feedback to students and theory and practical assessments in the formal assessment periods (marking exam papers and practical models)
	applies expertise in clinical practice to provide training and support to other academic staff on effective, innovative and contemporary clinical practice
	provide mentoring and guidance to students and Level 1 Professional Practitioners, role modelling effective patient interaction and care
	supervise undergraduate or pre-registration students on observational or clinical placements, or students undertaking internships/work experience
	contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled
	maintains an understanding of the University's strategic agenda and actively contributes to furthering that agenda
	appropriately represent the University in partner organisations, clinical settings, and the community, maintaining productive links between the university and clinical or industry partners
	undertake other duties and contribute to projects appropriate within the classification level as required.


Level C:


	demonstrate professional standards to students to prepare them to meet eligibility requirements for completion of a degree leading to professional registration or specialist registration
	may contribute to the development and evaluation of innovative practices in clinical teaching and learning, and assessment materials, with a view to improving educational outcomes
	undertake independent teaching and training of advanced undergraduate and postgraduate students (including those on placement) within a simulated or real clinical setting, applying clinical experience and expertise to inform best practice teaching
	engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the university's expectations and standards for education
	apply specialist or advanced clinical knowledge and expertise to inform high-quality patient care whilst also supervising the training of pre-registration and specialist students
	supervise students as they deliver treatment to patients
	engages constructively with student feedback and evaluations of teaching practice
	contribute to the development of assessment material and undertake contemporaneous sessional assessment with feedback to students and theory and practical assessments in the formal assessment periods (marking exam papers and practical models)

	APHRA registered
	Bachelor's degree in relevant field

	significant experience working in a clinical setting and proven ability to apply expertise and knowledge to inform clinical practice teaching
	experience in clinical or simulated teaching and learning in a tertiary environment (or clinical placement), as evidenced by student coaching and skills development
	demonstrated success in implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives with a clinical and patient care focus
	a network of relationships with key academic, clinical and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders.


Level C 


	APHRA registered
	Bachelor's or Specialist degree in relevant field
	PhD in a relevant field desirable
	demonstrated excellence in clinical activities relevant to educational design and practice
	demonstrated understanding of contemporary clinical best-practice
	a dental specialist or highly qualified health professional or practitioner with an extensive clinical experience who have developed specialist or advanced skills and competencies
	have deep and broad experience in effective clinical teaching and learning, as evidenced by high-quality student outcomes
	demonstrated excellence in clinical activities relevant to educational design and practice
	demonstrated applied understanding of contemporary clinical best-practice
	significant experience in supervising and or mentoring students
	extensive knowledge and understanding of contemporary teaching practices and assessment in clinical and/or simulation settings.

Description

The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering (Civil & Urban Engineering) seeks to recruit a Post-doctoral Associate to work on a broader field of geotechnical engineering. 

Required Qualifications:

A successful applicant must have a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on one or more of the following:


	Centrifuge experimental testing (design, execution, and data interpretation)
	Numerical modeling and simulation to complement physical experiments
	Preferred) Proficiency in CAD and modeling tools such as SolidWorks for experimental design and apparatus development


Additional background in areas such as artificial intelligence applications in geotechnics, geoenvironmental engineering, geohazards risk assessment, or energy geotechnics will be considered an asset. 

Research Project:

The successful candidate will lead a research project focused on advancing the design, testing, and analysis of resilient and sustainable geotechnical systems using centrifuge modeling. The work will bridge advanced experimental testing with complementary numerical simulation to generate insights for infrastructure and energy applications.

The Post-doctoral Associate will be expected to:


	Design, implement, and analyze centrifuge experiments.
	Integrate findings with numerical models for validation and deeper interpretation.
	Develop innovative experimental apparatus (SolidWorks proficiency is a plus).
	Disseminate results through high-quality publications in reputable journals.
	Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team of faculty, postdocs, and students

The Division of Engineering at NYU Abu Dhabi is searching for accomplished visiting faculty in Computer Engineering to educate the next generation of global leaders.
