About Entity (Hiring entity): ASARI is positioning itself as a regional center of excellence in CRISPR genome editing, with a focus on advancing opportunity crops tailored to the marginal regions of Africa. These areas, defined by arid and saline conditions, require innovative solutions to overcome the challenges posed by climate change and resource scarcity. As part of this initiative, ASARI has reviewed and published a selection of crop species with significant potential for adaptation to these challenging environments. Additionally, we have identified key gene families and their specific targets that can be enhanced through genome editing technologies. Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of these resilient crops across Africa's marginal lands, bridging the gap between cutting-edge genome editing tools and the unique agricultural needs of marginal African communities. Description of the position: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled post-doctoral research fellow to join our team. The successful candidate will focus on unraveling the transcriptional regulation of the candidate genes we have profiled and their associated target phenotypes in selected crops subjected to drought and salt stresses. This will be a key step in determining editing modalities. Therefore, the ideal candidate will be expected to conduct homologous overexpression, gene silencing, sequence analysis and contained phenotyping. Education A PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, or a closely related field Requirement Solid experience in nucleic acid isolation, PCR, RT-qPCR, and gel electrophoresis Solid experience in gene overexpression and/or silencing Proven knowledge in either four of these bioinformatics tools: BLAST, Ensembl, InterProScan, Primer3, MEGA, MAFFT, Phytozome, Bioconductor, Geneious, Clustal Omega Proficiency in R Knowledge of plant stress biology Good communication skills in English Ability to work as a team Solid publication track record in SCI-journals

The University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) is pleased to announce the opening for up to two full-time academic positions (Teaching and Research stream) in Veterinary Anesthesiology. For candidates with an interest in research, UCVM has enviable access and existing collaborations with the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Depending on qualifications and career track expectations, the appointments will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Associate Professor (with tenure) in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The successful candidate will be appointed in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The anticipated start date is June 1, 2026, or a mutually agreed upon date. The positions require a DVM (or equivalent). Board certification (DACVAA and/or Dipl. ECVAA) is preferred, but board-eligible ACVAA or ECVAA residency-trained candidates, or a candidate holding a PhD in veterinary anesthesiology, will be considered. An additional graduate degree is considered an asset. The candidate must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta. Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor normally requires evidence or promise of original high-quality research and scholarship and future development as a scholar. Evidence or promise of the ability to obtain funding may also be required where appropriate. Evidence or promise of teaching proficiency or professional activity may also be required. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor requires evidence of an established academic program of a caliber equivalent to national recognition by peers. It is expected that a record of high-quality research and scholarship suitable to the discipline or field has been achieved. Evidence of ability to obtain funding to sustain a research program is required. Evidence of teaching effectiveness and expertise, including a demonstrated ability to teach a variety of courses, design learning experiences may be required. A satisfactory record of and active involvement in university, professional or community service is expected. UCVM employs a Distributed Veterinary Teaching Hospital model. Clinical time may be assigned in clinics in the community. If clinical time is assigned, opportunities are wide and varied and the successful candidate will be given guidance and support in establishing relationships with local clinics, based on desires and opportunities available. UCVM's AVMA accredited DVM program provides a comprehensive general veterinary education to approximately 100 students per year. Location: ASARI Institute, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), Laayoune, Morocco Position overview: The ASARI Institute at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Fellow in Plant Nutrition and Fertilization. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at developing sustainable soil fertility management systems for marginal agricultural soils, particularly under conditions of salinity and drought. The research will focus on the use of phosphate rock (RP) and its integration with diverse cropping systems, including legumes, cereals, grasses, and vegetables. The appointed candidate will conduct field, greenhouse, and laboratory trials, analyze data, and publish findings in high-impact journals. The role requires active participation in an interdisciplinary team to evaluate and optimize integrated soil fertility management strategies. Key duties and responsibilities: Research implementation: Design and conduct field, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of phosphate rock (RP) and other fertilization strategies in improving soil fertility and crop productivity. Investigate the interactions between soil amendments, cropping systems, and environmental stressors (salinity, drought) on plant nutrition and growth. Crop and soil analysis: Perform detailed analyses of plant tissues, soils, and fertilizers to assess nutrient uptake, soil health, and fertilizer efficiency. Use advanced analytical techniques to measure nutrient availability, soil microbial activity, and plant responses. Data management and analysis: Collect, manage, and analyze experimental data using statistical and modeling tools. Interpret results to draw meaningful conclusions and develop recommendations for sustainable agricultural practices. Publication and dissemination: Prepare high-quality research papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Present findings at national and international conferences, workshops, and seminars.
