The university was founded in 1987 by a group of Honduran businessmen and professors of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH).

The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across various disciplines such as engineering, business, health sciences, social sciences, and information technology.

The university has campuses in the three main cities of Honduras: Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula and La Ceiba. All three campuses have classrooms, laboratories, a central library, student residences, sports facilities, and dedicated spaces for research and innovation. In addition to this, events and activities are organised throughout the year. 

The university has established partnerships with numerous international institutions, enabling student and faculty exchanges, joint research initiatives, and participation in global conferences and seminars. The Senior Research Officer (Targeted) will join a small but growing research team led by Associate Professor Miichael Mossman and Professor Donald McNeill. The successful applicant will work on a project jointly funded through an Australian Research Council Discovery Indigenous grant and University of Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning. The overall aim of this project is to report on the efficacy of the Architect's Accreditation Council of Australia National Standard of Competency for Architecture (NSCA). The culturally informed project aims to survey and workshop First Nations specific Performance Criteria of the NSCA with New South Wales based Indigenous communities, universities, practices, peak bodies and allied disciplines. The Senior Research Officer will help coordinate and undertake data collection, data interpretation, development of publications and organisation of annual symposiums. Experience in architecture and the built environment in relation to Country and First Nations Communities and Culture is critical to advancing the processes and outcomes of this research project. They will be expected to apply and develop their expertise in conducting research and interactive activities. The Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised individual to work on a two-year research programme on hydration and health. The successful candidate will work alongside Professor Neil Walsh and his team on an industry-funded research programme extending recently published work. You will be expected to assist in all aspects of the programme of work, including: study design; ethical approval; the day-to-day running and administration of the research project; the implementation of interventions; assisting in the collection and interpretation of data; and the production of technical reports and manuscripts for publication. You will hold a good honours degree (First or 2.1) in a relevant subject area e.g., nutrition, human physiology, health psychology, exercise science. Experience of conducting high quality research is essential. A master’s postgraduate degree is desirable, as is experience of biological sample collection (e.g., venous blood), handling, storage (in accordance with GLP), biochemical analysis and an awareness of quality control techniques. In addition, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage and prioritise a continuously demanding workload. The group’s research combines the development of scalable photonic quantum technology for quantum computing and other quantum information applications with the investigation of fundamental quantum science questions. The main activities reach from quantum control of single photons using solid-state photon sources, integrated waveguide technology, tailored nonlinear media and detectors based on superconductor technology to interferometric precision measurements of weak gravitational forces. You will also benefit from being a fellow of the Vienna Doctoral School in Physics (VDSP), being part of a thriving community with more than 100 quantum scientists on the premises, about 300 quantum researchers in Vienna. The Walther Group unites an international team of scientists who are passionate about research in quantum optics, quantum information and quantum technologies. Our 35 researchers, from undergraduate student, PhD candidate to Postdoc are working together on mostly experimental topics in small subgroups. Teamwork is a key factor to our group’s success.
