Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University was established in 1995 as part of an agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Turkey. Teaching first started in 1997/1998 academic year. The university is located in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. There are nine faculties at the university: engineering, communication, humanities, economics and management, sciences, fine arts, theology, veterinary medicine, and agriculture. Within each faculty are a number of departments offering a range of degree programmes at both undergraduate and graduate level. There are also four schools based at the university: school of physical education and sports, school of tourism and hotel management, school of foreign languages, and the school of vocational education. There are several research centres at the university, including the Biotechnology and Biodiversity Research Centre, the Central Asian Studies Centre, and the Turkic Civilisation Research and Application Centre. The university has developed partnerships with almost 200 other higher education institutions around the world in countries including China, Ukraine, Japan, Germany, India, Portugal, France, and the UK. These partnerships facilitate a variety of academic and scientific exchanges, as well as study abroad programmes.

B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) Reference no.: 5619 At the institute of Theoretical Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry a PhD position is to be filled. Our group covers different topics in theoretical chemistry, from the use of advanced electronic structure methods to the development of dynamical approaches to study photochemical reactions, also including machine learning. The group is part of the Cluster of Excellence “MECS- Materials for Energy Conversion and Storage” and the Sonderforschungsbereich TRR234 “CataLight- Light-driven Molecular Catalysts in Hierarchically Structured Materials”, benefiting from many experimental and theoretical collaborations. Your personal sphere of play: You will carry out excited-state electronic structure calculations and simulations of photodynamics of complex organic or inorganic molecules in condensed phase. You will apply state-of-the-art theoretical methods and will have the possibility to develop new computational dynamical strategies. The outcome shall contribute to the understanding of mechanisms of photocatalytic processes in solution or other complex environments. The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension. With appropriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible. Your future tasks: You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means: You are involved in research related to excited-state electronic structure calculations and simulations of photodynamics of complex organic or inorganic molecules in condensed phase. You will carry out independent computational work, including data analysis and preparation of results for publication. You are expected to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12 months.  You will work on your dissertation and towards its completion. Research Fellow in Palaeoceanography and Earth System Model Development

The School of Ocean and Earth Science at the University of Southampton is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow in Palaeoceanography and Earth System Model Development. The successful applicant will work on the development and application of the cGENIE Earth system model on multiple sub-projects of the ERC grant ‘Determining the drivers of extinction across space and time’, under the supervision of institutional lead Dr. Richard Stockey and in collaboration with team members at the University of Oxford (led by Prof. Erin Saupe). The post holder will specifically work to generate a series of reconstructive models of 3D ocean biogeochemistry through 1) the last ~800,000 years and 2) the Phanerozoic (last ~540 million years). A key focus of this role is to conduct Earth system model development to improve representation of ocean biogeochemistry in space and time for the intervals focused on in this research project. This is a relatively short-term, specialist Earth system modelling position (15-month duration). The post holder is therefore expected to have prior experience in intermediate complexity Earth system modelling and experience integrating key components of Earth system evolution on these timescales, in particular linking model output to geochemical data and working with astronomical forcings. The successful candidate will either hold, or be nearing completion of, a relevant PhD/DPhil and will have appropriate research experience alongside strong subject-specific expertise. They should be capable of working independently within established research programmes, managing their own research activities and contributing to academic publications. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to clearly present research ideas and findings, as well as representing the research group effectively in meetings and collaborative discussions.
