Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University was established in 1995 as part of an agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Turkey. Teaching first started in 1997/1998 academic year.
The university is located in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
There are nine faculties at the university: engineering, communication, humanities, economics and management, sciences, fine arts, theology, veterinary medicine, and agriculture. Within each faculty are a number of departments offering a range of degree programmes at both undergraduate and graduate level.
There are also four schools based at the university: school of physical education and sports, school of tourism and hotel management, school of foreign languages, and the school of vocational education.
There are several research centres at the university, including the Biotechnology and Biodiversity Research Centre, the Central Asian Studies Centre, and the Turkic Civilisation Research and Application Centre.
The university has developed partnerships with almost 200 other higher education institutions around the world in countries including China, Ukraine, Japan, Germany, India, Portugal, France, and the UK. These partnerships facilitate a variety of academic and scientific exchanges, as well as study abroad programmes.
