Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is one of the largest institutions by enrollment in British Columbia with a total of 20,000 students and 1,400 faculty members across its five locations. The university offers undergraduate and vocational education including bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates, apprenticeships, and citations. Students can choose to study from over 120 different degree, diploma, certificate and citation programmes, as well as foundation and in-school apprenticeship training. Many of its programmes are unique and cannot be found at other post-secondary institutions. For example, it offers the only brewing diploma of its kind in British Columbia and teaches fashion and technology and product design courses that are unique to Western Canada. Its bachelor of horticulture science in urban ecosystems is the only undergraduate degree in North America dedicated to the study of urban ecosystems. Classes are taught with a maximum of 35 students, with many classes even smaller. Flexible scheduling enables students to take courses full-time or part-time with classes in the morning, afternoon, or evening, with some online courses also available. The university had six varsity teams competing in four sports - men's and women's football, men's and women's basketball, badminton and golf. The athletic teams are known as the Kwantlen Eagles.

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop/produce/investigate a web-based Ship Simulation and Optimisation Software Platform. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: i. Develop naval architecure calculation and ship design tools based on analytical or empirical methods, i.e., stability calculation, resistance and propulsion estimation, weight estimation, etc. ii. Develop a practical parametric model framework for ship and system design. iii. Carry out naval architecture calculations, i.e., stability, resistance, hydrodynamic analysis, etc. iv. Carry out ship hydrodynamic and CFD simulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements Have relevant competence in the areas of naval architecture and ship hydrodynamics. Have a degree in Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering / Ocean Engineering / Other Relevant Engineering Degree. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous. Experience in any programming language will be advantageous. Experience in marine hydrodynamics will be advantageous. The Faculty of Law at the University of Helsinki is seeking a University Lecturer for a fixed-term position from September 1, 2026, to August 30, 2028, who can teach public law, particularly international law. The responsibilities of the University Lecturer in Law include providing undergraduate education as well as supervising and examining theses in the Bachelor of Laws program and in one or more of the faculty's Master’s programs. The University Lecturer will conduct independent scientific research and manage jointly agreed administrative and other tasks. Teaching responsibilities also include instruction under the Open University brand. The place of employment for University Lecturers is Helsinki, but the position also involves teaching duties at the faculty's education unit in Vaasa. The role is teaching-oriented. Requirements for the Position and Evaluation of Qualifications Candidates must hold a relevant doctoral degree in accordance with the University of Helsinki's regulations and demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality research-based teaching and supervise theses. The University Lecturer must have good teaching skills. The language of instruction for the position is English. When assessing candidates' qualifications, both scientific and teaching merits will be considered. Scientific merits include scientific publications and other research results of scientific value. Dietitians provide medical nutrition therapy and implement specific diet strategies for chronic medical conditions, illnesses, or injuries (Singapore Nutrition and Dietetics Association). Nursing: Registered nurses render health services to individuals, families, and communities (Singapore Nursing Board Code for Nurses and Midwives 2018). Speech and Language Therapy: Speech and Language Therapy involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of communication and swallowing disorders (Allied Health Professions Act 2011). Occupational Therapy: Occupational therapy involves assessment and interventions to work or school, self-care, leisure or play, physical environments as well as cognitive, mental and physical components of function to enable individuals affected by physical injury or illness, developmental or learning disabilities, psychosocial dysfunctions or the aging process, to engage in everyday life occupations in order to maximise independent performance of life roles, prevent disability and maintain health (Allied Health Professions Act 2011). Physiotherapy: Physiotherapy involves assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of pain, injury, or any other physical dysfunction, through the use of education, exercise, manual therapy, electro-physical agents, technology or any other treatment for those purposes (Allied Health Professions Act 2011).

Location: SIT Punggol Campus Job Type: Contract Experience Level: 3+ years relevant experience (preferred) About Us: Autonomous Systems Advanced Intelligence Laboratory (ASAIL) is at the forefront of developing next-generation unmanned aerial capabilities for the public safety sector. We are bridging the gap between commercial drone hardware and the demanding requirements of law enforcement and security operations. Our mission is to enhance the safety and effectiveness of personnel through intelligent, resilient, and autonomous aerial systems. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Research Engineer to lead the applied research and development of advanced control augmentation techniques for Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) drones. This role focuses on pushing the limits of COTS hardware by integrating sophisticated software and edge computing solutions. The Role: As our Research Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of augmentation software, from theoretical design and simulation to real-world proof-of-concept demonstrations. You will work on a portfolio of critical enhancements, including advanced navigation algorithms, swarm intelligence, cyber security hardening, and payload-specific control systems. Key Responsibilities: Control Augmentation Development: Design, implement, and tune advanced control augmentation techniques (e.g., model predictive control, adaptive control) to enhance the stability and agility of COTS drones under dynamic conditions. Swarm Intelligence: Develop and test decentralized swarm algorithms for coordinated area search, target tracking, and collaborative task allocation without reliance on constant ground control intervention. Cyber Security Enhancement: Research and implement mitigation strategies against common attack vectors on COTS platforms, including GPS spoofing, communication jamming, and protocol vulnerabilities. Develop hardened communication layers between the drone, edge device, and ground station. Payload-Specific Control: Integrate and tune control systems for mission-specific payloads (e.g., gimbaled cameras, spotlights, delivery mechanisms) to ensure stable operation and precise control during flight. Edge Computing Implementation: Architect and deploy machine learning and computer vision models directly onto onboard edge devices (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson) for real-time object detection, tracking, and autonomous decision-making. Proof-of-Concept Demonstration: Lead the integration of software onto physical drone platforms, conduct rigorous flight testing, and execute live demonstrations to validate performance against operational requirements. Documentation & Dissemination: Document research findings, software architectures, and test results. Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Required Qualifications & Expertise: Education: Honor’s degree (Master’s and Ph.D. preferred) in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Control Theory: Strong theoretical and practical background in control systems, including PID, LQR, MPC, or adaptive control. Robotics Software: Extensive experience with the Robot Operating System (ROS/ROS 2). Programming: High proficiency in C++ and Python for real-time robotic applications. Simulation: Experience with realistic simulation environments such as Gazebo, AirSim, or Unreal Engine. Edge Computing: Proven experience deploying algorithms on resource-constrained edge devices for real-time inference and control. Drone Platforms: Hands-on experience with commercial autopilots (PX4, ArduPilot) and integrating software with COTS frames (DJI, Holybro, etc.) via companion computers.
