Kurukshetra University

Kurukshetra University was founded in 1956, in the town of Kurukshetra, just over 150km north of Delhi. At the time, the university had a single department – Sanskrit – and owed its existence to the governor of Punjab, an avid Sanskrit scholar. Its location was chosen in recognition of Kurukshetra’s ancient Vedic history and association with the Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita. 
Gradually, the university expanded, opening different departments in a range of academic disciplines. Today, undergraduate degrees are offered in 10 areas of study: arts and languages; social sciences; life sciences; sciences; education; Indic studies; engineering and technology; law; commerce and management; and pharmaceutical science. 
Its 400-acre campus includes a gymnasium, a swimming pool and a museum dedicated to the 1857 first Indian war of independence (previously known as the Indian Mutiny). 
It offers 12 hostels for male students and 13 for female students. All hostels provide purified water, as well as newspapers, periodicals, games, music and TV. The women’s hostel complex is surrounded by a high boundary wall to keep out intruders, and offers a first-aid centre, reading room, indoor and outdoor gym and tailoring shop. 
The university holds annual talent shows, with a cash prize for the winner. Hindi Diwas, the annual day of celebration of the Hindi language, is marked with declaiming contests and poetry symposia. 
Student societies include dance club, drama club and water-sports club, as well as a Red Cross club and a campus service scheme. A number of academic-related groups and publications, such as the Kurukshetra Law Journal, invite contributions from students.

Position overview

The University Risk Office is seeking experienced risk professionals to join the team as Manager, Risk and help embed effective risk management across ANU.

The Manager, Risk will lead enterprise risk initiatives and provide high-quality advice, analysis and reporting on strategic, operational and emerging risks. We are looking to recruit a Teaching Fellow in Anatomical Sciences to join our committed and enthusiastic team of anatomists and technical staff in our goal to provide the highest quality student experience. This post is based at Southampton General Hospital in the Centre for Learning Anatomical Sciences (CLAS) which comprises a large Anatomical Sciences Laboratory. We are part of the School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education in the Faculty of Medicine and we have close interdisciplinary links with other members of the faculty and wider University. 

The University of Southampton is a global centre for excellence in education and research and a founding member of the Russell Group. The Centre for Learning Anatomical Sciences (CLAS) is part of the larger Medical Education group within the Faculty of Medicine and we benefit from a resource-rich creative environment and the close proximity of our clinical colleagues.

Our principal role is to develop and deliver human anatomy teaching and learning for undergraduates. Teaching areas include gross anatomy, microanatomy, developmental anatomy and neuroanatomy. Members of academic staff also have curriculum management and development roles in the Faculty and wider University.

Anatomy is taught through prosected specimens which we create in house through the generous donation of members of the public. Our catchment area for donations is the South East of England. Central to our method of delivery is a student-centred approach providing students with a resource-rich environment in which to study. Students undertake a range of activities using high quality bespoke prosected specimens, plastinated and museum specimens, plastic models, bones, imaging material and eLearning packages.

Our team comprises the Director of the Centre, 1 Principal Teaching Fellow, 5 Teaching Fellows, Technical Manager and Deputy and 2 Anatomy Laboratory Technicians. Our work is supported by the CLAS administrator.

The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of anatomy and its sub-disciplines, experience in demonstrating anatomy in practical classes and be enthusiastic and flexible in supporting staff in the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. We are looking for someone that is keen to participate fully in the intellectual and academic activities of a lively and committed department which values collegiality highly with the aim to deliver the highest quality student experience.

We are seeking to appoint a Medical or Anatomy graduate. The successful candidate will ideally have had experience working within a human anatomy morbid facility. You will be an excellent team player and have a good understanding of the Human Tissue Act. Experience working in a medical school is desirable.
