Description The Micro- and Nanoscale Bioengineering Lab (MNBL) at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking to recruit a research assistant to study various human diseases using an organ/organoid-on-a-chip approach. Applicants with a strong background in designing and fabricating microfluidic devices and cell culture are encouraged to apply. Research in the MNBL focuses on designing and fabricating microphysiological systems to study various diseases affecting multiple human organs in vitro. Our project involves collaborations with the faculty of Bioengineering and Biology at NYUAD. Responsibilities of the position include growing cells in organ-on-a-chip microfluidic devices, characterizing them using downstream analysis such as bioimaging and omics analysis, and testing new potential drugs on these cells. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment comprising PhD-level scientists, graduate students, and undergraduate students, thereby acquiring valuable skills in writing manuscripts and establishing collaborations across disciplines. Applicants must hold a B.S. degree in the engineering field. They must also have excellent cell biology expertise; multi-year experience of handling cells with microfluidic devices is essential. Description The Social Science Experimental Laboratory (SSEL) at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Post-doctoral Researcher position. We seek an ambitious, well-trained, and collaborative scholar with a PhD in economics or a related field. Candidates must have expertise in experimental methods and prior experience conducting social science experiments (lab, lab-in-the-field, online, and/or field). Researchers working at the intersection of experiments and other methods (theory, empirical) as well those studying human behavior and artificial intelligence are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is expected to: Conduct and publish research in leading journals in social science or interdisciplinary outlets. Collaborate with SSEL board members and affiliated faculty. Contribute to the smooth operation of the laboratory. Participate in the academic activities of the division. This position does not include teaching duties and the SSEL provides financial support for travel and research. The successful applicant will join a vibrant community of economists, sociologists, and political scientists conducting cutting-edge experimental research on human behavior. The Social Science division holds active seminar series, as well as workshops and events year round. Description The Khalil laboratory in the Center for Smart Engineering Materials, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to work on the design and deployment of porous materials for water remediation applications. The successful applicant will work on the development and application of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) for water remediation. The successful candidate will join a young yet highly energetic team dedicated to leveraging chemistry, reaction engineering, and manufacturing principles to address pressing challenges in the water sector. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists and undergraduate students. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.  Job Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.• Undertake these responsibilities in the project: i. Lead and support high quality publications to disseminate the applied research outcomes. ii. Plan, organize and carry out experiments and trials in the food pilot plant to achieve the objectives iii. Manage and complete the project by presenting the findings in conferences or meetings with industrial collaborator, submitting timely data & documents, and purchase chemicals or consumables. iv. Engage and communicate with collaborators for progress meetings and report generation to meet the grantor's requirements. The candidate is to liaise and communicate with any internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met and to perform any other adhoc duties assigned by Supervisor.  Job requirements Have relevant competence in the areas of protein chemistry, analytical chemistry for amino acid profiling, polyphenol profile analysis, SDS-PAGE, and protein hydrolysis. Have a degree in Food Science and Technology, or Analytical Chemistry. Possessing a Master's or PhD degree will be advantageous Experience and Knowledge of operating HPLC, MALDI-TOF and Q-TOF Mass spectrometry for protein sequencing, carbohydrate/Sugar analysis, and polyphenol identification. Previous experience as lab-in-charge or equipment-in-charge will be advantageous. Able to communicate with industrial collaborators to share key findings, seek supports, or conducting commercial trials. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety, and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
