Positions based at ZMU usually require a strong on-site presence and active engagement with students, colleagues, and institutional partners. Position Description Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Lecturer in French as a Foreign Language position with teaching responsibilities based at the Zayed Military University (ZMU) campus. SUAD is committed to attracting a diverse faculty and encourages applications from candidates with varied academic backgrounds and international experience. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong interest in pedagogy, student support, and inclusive teaching practices. Key Accountabilities Teaching Design and deliver undergraduate French courses, primarily within the Foundation Year. Develop engaging, gamified teaching materials, assessments and learning activities that foster critical thinking, analytical reasoning, language awareness, and students’ ability to engage in autonomous learning. Student Support and Academic Advising Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students. Support the development of students’ analytical skills. Academic and Administrative Service Participate in departmental and university service activities. Contribute to program development, curriculum review, and academic governance where appropriate. Minimum Qualifications and Experience Master’s Degree/PhD Degree preferred in French as a Foreign Language or any other relevant discipline from an accredited higher education institute. 5 years of experience in teaching French as a Foreign Language preferably within the higher education sector. Professional proficiency in English is mandatory. IELTS certification or equivalent qualification is an asset. Strong commitment to effective and student-centred teaching practices. Readiness and capacity to supervise and mentor students. Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural academic environment. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset. Advanced pedagogical skills and proficiency in educational technologies and online learning platforms are considered an asset.
