The Government of Punjab recently established Kohsar University in 2020. The university currently operates with four campuses, situated at Punjab House, Boys Campus-Jhika Gali near Kashmir Point, Girls Campus near GPO Mall Road, and Resource Centre Murree at Kashmir Point. Kohsar University is a part of the Punjab Higher Education Commission's plan to establish higher-education institutions in applied sciences. The government intends to develop a pool of high-quality researchers and technicians in various fields, including science, technology and allied industries. Kohsar University Murree currently operates three faculties: faculty of applied sciences and computing, faculty of biomedical and life sciences, and faculty of management, humanities and social sciences. The university focuses on offering degree programmes and short diploma and certification programmes that address real-life problems in areas including environmental pollution, pathogen surveillance, climate mitigation, tourism and hospitality, disaster management, horticulture and food security. Kohsar University Murree also offers programmes in digital world/computer sciences, humanities, social sciences, health, environmental sciences, precision agriculture, and art and design. The university actively promotes science, technology, engineering and mathematics education, and engages with students to ensure that it has a positive impact on society and the environment.

The mission of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is to build upon our proud traditions and strengths by engaging in innovative, high-impact, and leading-edge research and development; creating a learning environment that maximizes student potential; incubating well-trained and enthusiastic mechanical engineers and research graduates; and serving the local and international community and industry. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, along with at least twelve years of teaching experience at the tertiary level (or equivalent professional experience), with demonstrated accomplishments in high-quality teaching and pedagogy, curriculum development, administrative leadership, knowledge exchange and industry engagement. The Department places emphasis on experiential and project-based learning, and a proven track record in implementing such approaches will have a definite advantage, particularly in areas of strong and growing interest to students and teaching staff, such as robotics and airspace engineering. As taught postgraduate programs constitute a significant portion of our educational initiatives, those with extensive experience in teaching Master’s-level courses in mechanical engineering or closely related engineering disciplines will be highly preferred. The appointee will be responsible for high-quality teaching in mechanical engineering subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This role involves the supervision of student projects and dissertations, active contribution to course and curriculum design, and ongoing review and enhancement of academic programmes, including accreditation-related activities. He/She is expected to actively engage students in learning through interactive teaching practices and incorporate these methodologies into their teaching approach. He/She should maintain active participation in knowledge exchange, connecting with the industry and the public. He/She will also be required to contribute to the departmental administration and University services. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable. Schemes of Service: Research Division: Food, Chemical and Biotechnology Employment Type: Fixed Term As a University of Applied Learning, the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) works closely with industry partners to deliver translational, impact-driven research. This role supports applied food processing research projects with strong industry relevance, focusing on product development, process optimization and food characterization. Key Responsibilities Lead bench formulation of mushroom‑based and plant‑based food products, especially focusing on muscle‑like architectures to achieve required texture, flavour, and nutrition performance during cooking, reheating, and storage. Apply advanced texturisation techniques, including cold extrusion, lamination, and natural tenderisation strategies (e.g. enzyme treatment, solid-state fermentation), to create fibrous, meat‑like structures that replicate bite, chewiness, and elasticity. Translate scalable solutions from upstream processing (e.g. protein gels, fermented ingredients) into robust food formulations by collaboration with culinary experts, and lead pilot‑scale trials at facilities such as SIT FoodPlant to assess manufacturability, reproducibility, and scalability for clinical and consumer studies. Conduct textural, rheological, and sensory characterisation to evaluate product performance and guide formulation refinement. Consolidate formulation, processing, and performance data to support techno‑economic analysis (TEA), life‑cycle assessment (LCA), and cost–benefit analysis (CBA). Prepare scientific manuscripts, technical reports, progress updates, and final deliverables for funding agencies and stakeholders. Engage and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to support progress meetings, technology transfer activities, conferences, and approved communication channels. Supervise and mentor junior researchers, engineers, students, and visiting scholars involved in the projects. The candidate is to communicate with all relevant internal and external stakeholders as required to meet the project deliverables. Any other adhoc duties assigned by supervisor. Job Requirements PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, or a closely related discipline. Strong Master’s degree holders with relevant experience may be considered. Strong background in food formulation, protein‑based systems, and texture design. Hands‑on experience with texturisation technologies, such as extrusion, lamination, gelation, or emulsion‑based structuring. Knowledge of protein gels, microgels, fat mimetics, and structure–function relationships in food matrices. Familiarity with sensory evaluation, texture analysis, and rheological measurements, food system characterization. Experience translating laboratory‑scale formulations into pilot‑scale or industry‑relevant processes. Understanding of nutrition‑driven product design, particularly for vulnerable or special‑needs populations. Ability to integrate culinary considerations into scientific formulation and product development. Strong problem‑solving skills with attention to both scientific rigor and practical feasibility. Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration with engineers, nutritionists, clinicians, and industry partners. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary applied research team. Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams. Good communication and stakeholder management skills, including liaison with vendors, suppliers, and external partners.

The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver on a research project to develop an End-to-end misinformation and disinformation protection, awareness and mitigation pipeline.
