Kobe International University was founded in 1968 and is a private, co-educational, multidisciplinary institution offering wide range of programs in undergraduate levels. The university is affiliated to the Anglican Church of. Japan. It is located in the ancient city of Kobe, a majestic city both historically as well as naturally. The university, which has inbound and outbound study partnerships with a host of institutions in more than 30 countries is especially renowned for its academic standards and a widely diverse international student body. Popularly known as the “Global Partners”, the university regularly facilitates exchange of students and faculties with its partner universities around the word like Niagara College Canada, California State University, Griffith College, Bond University, NLA University College. Kobe International University also has an Academic Research Society and Institutes for Economic, Cultural and Rehabilitation Studies to promote research activities inside the university. The university also organises several events each year like the Rice Cake Pounding, study tours, BBQ party and other various school festivals. The university has a well- managed dormitory system and has set up student assistant systems to help international students with their studies. From aqua hall to the career development centre, Kobe International University provides all sorts of amenities to facilitate the personal and professional development of its students. In addition to this, there is a student council, different cultural organisations and sports club inside the campus. Background The Faculty of Social Sciences and Institute for Social Research are collaborating to foster cutting-edge areas in social sciences research. This joint post-doctoral researcher aims to support the next generation of leading social sciences researchers, by enabling them to develop a range of research skills in different contexts, working with mentors with different disciplinary and substantive expertise in the social sciences. The successful candidate will have the chance to work with leading researchers (mentors) in both FOSS and ISR to develop his/her research ideas and skills for a future career in academia or another research setting. He/She will work at HKU in the first year and is expected to spend the second year at U Michigan. Research Technician / Senior Research Technician

One position as a research technician (level 3) or senior research technician (level 4) is available in Dr Hans Michael Haitchi’s group in Respiratory Research, Clinical & Experimental Sciences (CES), Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton (UoS). The group is studying the Preclinical efficacy and safety of ADAM33 oligonucleotides as new disease-modifying asthma therapy in pre-clinical murine and human models as part of a Medical Research Council – Developmental Pathway Funding Scheme (MRC-DPFS) grant in 2023 in collaboration with Professor Jonathan K Watts from the RNA Therapeutics Institute at the University of Massachusetts, USA. We hope to move a compound forward toward Investigational New Drug (IND)-enabling studies and clinical development for severe asthma. Dr Haitchi’s group studies asthma and in particular the role of the asthma gene ADAM33 in development of asthma using in vivo and in vitro asthma research models. The posts will be full-time for up to 10 months, funded by a MRC-DPFS grant. Candidates must hold or nearing completion of a relevant MSc or PhD qualification (or equivalent). A background in respiratory research with experience in, molecular biology techniques is essential, microscopy and image analysis and animal models is desirable. We especially welcome applications from enthusiastic candidates with prior knowledge of a broad variety of laboratory research methods and human and/or mouse in vivo and ex vivo respiratory disease research models with a keen interest and willingness to learn new research methods as part of a research team in the UK and USA. The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki invites applications for the position of INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST for a fixed-term appointment from 11 May, 2026 to 31 March, 2027, or as agreed. We seek an information systems specialist to join the ReliaCode project at the University of Helsinki. Our aim is to make LLMs usable in organisational settings with high reliability requirements, especially for reasoning about complex document collections. We’re building methods to make it easier to tell when LLM outputs can’t be trusted, and to improve systems efficiently from limited human feedback. The work is part of an early-stage initiative based in a university environment, with secured funding and a strong focus on real-world impact through pilot collaborations with organizations. The goal is to iteratively develop a product that could evolve either into a general-purpose platform for unstructured data processing or a focused solution in a specific domain. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of research and product, and to help shape the technical direction of a potential startup from the ground up. We are offering a year-long full-time contract with the possibility of continuing afterwards in a potential spin-out company. We are particularly looking for candidates with: Strong Python and software engineering skills Hands-on experience using LLMs in applications, especially with multiple model calls and high reliability requirements Experience evaluating LLM systems, including designing benchmarks and using evaluation signals to identify failures and improve system performance Familiarity with practical ML approaches for ranking or classification with noisy or limited signals Comfort working independently in an early-stage project and taking ownership of open-ended problems The following are seen as advanteges but not necessary: Experience working with unstructured data sources (e.g. documents, long-form text) Familiarity with machine learning or NLP, particularly in areas such as information extraction or human-in-the-loop systems Some experience building and maintaining applications used by others  Familiarity with standard software engineering practices (e.g. version control, code review, testing, iterative development) What we offer The University of Helsinki is an equal opportunity employer and offers an attractive and diverse workplace with a variety of development opportunities and benefits. We seek an established researcher in quantum science and technologies with a strong and well-developed research track record, capable of leading and expanding SUAD’s research activities in this area. The successful candidate should demonstrate sufficient academic maturity to sustain an independent research program while contributing to the development of quantum-related teaching. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and academic excellence in teaching, research, and service within the Department and across Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD). As an accomplished scholar with a strong and internationally recognized research record in quantum technologies, the appointee is expected to develop an ambitious research program in theoretical physics and/or computer science, with a focus on quantum information and quantum technologies. Research activities may span the key pillars of quantum technologies—including quantum computing, quantum simulation, quantum metrology, and quantum communication. The appointee will collaborate closely with Sorbonne University and leading research laboratories such as LKB and LIP6 and will receive the resources needed to build and consolidate a Quantum Research Group at SUAD, including access to dedicated funding and co funding mechanisms for doctoral fellowships, as well as opportunities to host visiting scholars. One of the roles of the Quantum Research Group will be to foster collaborations within the UAE and with prominent global partners, supporting the growth of national and regional quantum ecosystems and positioning SUAD as a hub for excellence in quantum science and technology. In addition to research leadership, the successful candidate will contribute to high quality undergraduate and postgraduate education, mentor students and junior faculty and play a central role in advancing the University’s academic mission. From a teaching point of view, the new Faculty will be mainly engaged in teaching intermediate to advanced courses in Physics, Quantum physics and Quantum Information in the programs offered at SUAD, including the Bachelor’s in Physics – Concentration in Quantum Technologies. It is worthwhile noting that the programs are designed by Sorbonne University in France, while teaching is delivered exclusively in English. The programs follow the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), and the diplomas are awarded by Sorbonne University. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop and lead outreach activities in quantum science and technology, including public engagement and broader community programs, thereby strengthening societal understanding of quantum technologies and inspiring future generations.
