Opening its doors in 1992 Kirikkale University has 12 faculties including science, economics and engineering. The university also has one college, seven vocational schools, three institutes and 23 research centres.
One of the largest universities in the region, it attracts more than 30,000 students every year with 7 per cent of the student body coming from other countries.
The main campus is Kirikkale University Central Campus on Kirikkale-Ankara Highway, this is where the majority of the academic units are found. There are also vocational schools in Keskin, Delice and Bahşılı districts and Hacılar Town.
Outside of study there are plenty of opportunities for students to take part in extracurricular activities. There are over 100 societies to choose from spanning all sorts of interests from women's rights and theatre to chess and stray animal protection.
In terms of sports there are a range of facilities including a semi-Olympic swimming pool, tracks, various sports fields like volleyball and basketball, as well as a Turkish bath and sauna at the main campus.
