King’s College London (KCL) is one of the two founding colleges of the University of London, the sister college of University College London. Established in 1829 by King George IV and the Duke of Wellington, the then Prime Minister, it is the fourth oldest university in England.
KCL is now the largest healthcare learning centre in Europe, incorporating three teaching hospitals and providing a home to more than 27,000 students (including nearly 10,500 postgraduates) from 150 countries who also benefit from its strengths in law, the humanities and social sciences.
The university’s main site is on the Strand, in the heart of London, on the north bank of the River Thames, with another four campuses located at Guy’s Hospital, St Thomas’ Hospital, and in Waterloo and Denmark Hill.
KCL is a major research university. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, it was ranked 6th nationally in the ‘power’ ranking, which takes into account the quality and quantity of research activity, and ranks among the top institutions in the THE World University Rankings.
Twelve Nobel Prize winners are associated with King's, including Maurice Wilkins who discovered the structure of DNA, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu (a KCL alumnus), awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace in recognition of his work in opposing South Africa's apartheid regime.
Other notable alumni include Romantic poet John Keats, the founder of modern nursing Florence Nightingale and the eminent physicist Professor Peter Higgs.

Description The Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi is inviting applications for Associate Research Scientist positions in the broad research areas of mathematical analysis and partial differential equations (PDEs). While all applicants with a background in the analysis of PDEs will be considered, candidates with prior experience in theoretical physics, fluid mechanics, kinetic theory, dispersive equations or harmonic analysis will be given special attention. The Research Associates will be appointed for a duration of two years and will work under the supervision of Associate Professor Diogo Arsénio on subjects including: Magnetohydrodynamics and the mathematical theory of plasmas. Collisional kinetic models and their hydrodynamic limits. Dispersive phenomena in kinetic theory. Quantum gases. Applicants must hold a PhD degree in mathematics, physics or a related field. We seek candidates with an outstanding academic record, with at least 3 years of experience. Reporting to ARC Future Fellow and Professor Dries Verstraete, as Postdoctoral Research Associate in eVTOL medical delivery drones, you will work with a team of PhD students to design, build and flight test a fuel-cell-powered eVTOL drone. You will drive the development of the airframe, test and de-risk the controller, and integrate and optimize the fuel-cell-based propulsion system. You will take a leadership role in generating high quality research output. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to improved health care services for rural and remote regions. As part of the project, you will have opportunities to collaborate closely with academics within the university and with our industry partners.
