Beyond this focus, the applicant should be capable to lead English language seminars (C2 level) and teach courses in the field of English language teacher education for higher secondary schools. He or she should aim at academic advancement (associate professorship, full professorship), expand his or her portfolio of offered courses beyond the scope of translation studies and translation practice in line with current developments in the field (Bachelor’s and Master’s levels). We expect the candidate to teach the following courses, and develop them in line with the Department’s growth and trends in the field: Introduction to Translation Studies (Bachelor’s level). On the Master’s level, we expect the following teaching load: Translation on the Internet focused on technological assistance and context, Software Localization Practice, organization of the course taught by visiting experts Practical and Technical Aspects of Translation. We also expect the applicant to teach at least one more compulsory course, such as Czech Stylistics for Translators, and an offer of other courses from the applicant’s field of expertise – we welcome experience with technical translation and specialized texts translation, AV translation, legal translation, translation to English, and interpreting. MAIN JOB CONTENT  Pedagogical Participating in lectures or other forms of teaching in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme, as well as lifelong learning programmes. Supervising, consulting, or reviewing Bachelor’s and Master’s theses. In exceptional cases, a supervisor or consultant in doctoral degree programmes. Participating in the organizational provision of pedagogical activity. Participating in publishing activity, especially for educational purposes. Research  Participation in research, development, and innovation activities, especially:  independent investigation of complex research and development tasks and the publication of results in peer-reviewed journals, scientific monographs, or peer-reviewed proceedings, active participation in domestic and foreign scientific conferences and professional meetings, and presentation of research results, participation in the organizational provision of research activity. Other  Participation in ensuring operational and administrative activities related to the academic position according to the instructions of the department head, e.g.:  routine administrative tasks in the administration of own courses, use of e-learning and communication with students via the MU Information System, organising and participating in foreign internships for students and academic staff, participation in the promotion of the field. The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki invites applications for the position of  RESEARCH FELLOW (UNIVERSITY RESEARCHER) IN THE AREA OF MIGRATION, HEALTH, AGE CARE AND DISABILITY for a fixed-term period from 1 August 2026 to 31 December 2029, or as agreed. The Faculty of Social Sciences invite applications for a position as Research Fellow in Migration, health, age care & disability within the research action Diversity in Society and Life (DIVSOL). The appointed researcher is expected to contribute to the interdisciplinary research on the DIVSOL theme Participation, Inclusion and Empowerment, dedicated to understanding inclusion and the equitable treatment of minorities, essential for social justice, self-empowerment and nonconflictual ways of living together, in this position with reference to migration-related diversity.  To be recruited as a Research Fellow (University Researcher), the appointed person needs to have documented independent research activity; the ability to lead a research group; activities in Finnish or international research groups or networks, and experience in the acquisition of research funding. Further, we expect evidence of public engagement. We primarily seek to appoint at the Research Fellow level, but exceptionally strong Postdoctoral Researcher candidates will also be considered. RESPONSIBILITIES  The appointed researcher is expected to pursue an independent research programme,  typically in collaboration with existing research groups at the university.
