Khyber Medical University is a public research university, established in 2007.  
The university is located in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, northern Pakistan.  
The university is organised into nine institutes: basic medical sciences, physical medicine and rehabilitation, health profession education and research, paramedical sciences, health sciences, public health and social sciences, nursing sciences, medical sciences, and dental sciences. Each institute consists of different departments, which offer a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.   
The university is affiliated with numerous other colleges and institutions across Pakistan, such as the Jinnah Medical College in Peshawar, the Udhyana Institute of Medical Technologies in Abbottabad, and the Jibran College of Health Sciences in Swat. These affiliations facilitate joint research projects, as well as academic and scientific exchanges.

About this position:

As a university assistant pre-doc, you will join the Managerial Accounting research team led by Univ.-Prof. Thomas Pfeiffer. We conduct research using analytical methods in the areas of managerial accounting with a focus on contract theory, incentive systems, and corporate governance. The employee's research should qualify him/her for a doctorate as part of the international PhD program in Management. The program provides knowledge that enables you to apply analytical methods to business management issues. The programme is organized at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Statistics of the University of Vienna.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:


	We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.

Senior Scientist in Experimental Quantum Machine Learning

How can we perform table-top experiments to obtain new insights into the foundations of quantum physics? Can we measure gravitational effects on entangled photons for shining light onto the interface of quantum physics and gravity? Can we exploit quantum photonics technology for novel quantum machine learning, quantum computing and quantum cybersecurity applications? Can we scale-up multiphoton platforms by using integrated optics, quantum-dot single-photon sources and customized two-dimensional nonlinear materials? Such questions are the driving force behind our research. You will be part of our team and develop new ideas, technologies and experiments.

Your personal sphere of play:

The research group “Quantum Information Science and Quantum Computation”, led by Univ.- Prof. Dr. Philip Walther, is part of the Quantum Optics, Quantum Nanophysics & Quantum Information at the Faculty of Physics, and member of the Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology (VCQ) – one of the largest quantum hubs in Europe – and the Austrian Cluster of Excellence quanta. The group’s research combines the development of scalable photonic quantum technology for quantum computing and other quantum information applications with the investigation of fundamental quantum science questions. The main activities reach from quantum control of single photons using solid-state photon sources, integrated waveguide technology, tailored nonlinear media and detectors based on superconductor technology to interferometric precision measurements of weak gravitational forces.

For our further reinforcement we are looking for a Senior Scientist that supports in particular the research on experimental quantum machine learning. The position is currently limited to 1 year with the possibility of subsequent unlimited employment.

Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:


	You develop and strength the independent research profile.
	You are involved in research projects/research studies.
	You publish internationally and give presentations.

The position

The Max Perutz Labs, one of Europe’s leading institutes for basic research in the life sciences, invites applications for a tenure-track group leader position.
