You will lead a two-year fixed term research programme examining the effectiveness of World Rugby’s supplements programme for the prevention of anti-doping in international male and female players. You should be an enthusiastic and highly organised individual who will be expected to take a lead role in all aspects of the programme of work, including: study design; logistical management, the day-to-day running and administration of the research project; quantitative and qualitative data collection and interpretation; communicating with World Rugby’s Anti-doping team, and the production of technical reports and manuscripts for publication. The project team includes Dr Sam Moss, Professor Graeme Close, Professor Craig Twist, Dr Martin Littlewood and Dr Rebecca Murphy. Part time position – 0.6FTE Fixed term until 31/12/2030 Position based at Melbourne (Bundoora) Salary level B from $114,855 plus 17% superannuation About the position The Clinical Liaison Academic - International Student Support (Nursing and Midwifery) will support activities in the Health Professions Clinical Education Unit (HPCEU) with a particular focus on strategies to ensure quality international student professional experience placement. The role will involve working closely with key university stakeholders, clinical academic coordinators, subject coordinators and students, along with participating in related scholarship activities in facilitating quality pre- and post-placement learning and teaching for onshore international students. Duties will include but not be limited to:  Provision of information and limited pastoral care, and referral to LTU services and external agencies as appropriate to onshore international students, with respect to matters such as adjustment, homesickness, family problems, academic progress, health and finance. Co-ordination and linking into existing LTU and other community stakeholders’ engagement programs that address international student social inclusion and cultural connection needs. Develop and deliver activities that equip international students with practical communication, documentation and active listening skills that are tailored to health service environments. Work collaboratively with Clinical Academic Coordinators, Placement Partnering and Operations team, and subject coordinators to ensure international students are optimally prepared for professional experience placement. Skills and Experience To be considered for this position, you will have: Registered or eligible to register as a Registered Nurse and/or registered midwife with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). PhD degree (or working towards) or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate for the relevant discipline areas. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an academic research project funded by HTX, where you will be part of the research team under the project titled: Occupant Tenability and Time to Flashover in Small-Sized Flats (Numerical Study Phase) Under this job, you will develop a CFD modelling platform to study effects of different ventilation factors on an occupant’s tenability when trapped in the bedroom and have a reliable time to flashover within representative HDB units. Job Responsibilities:  Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: Assists in co-supervision of final year projects (FYP) or capstone projects students under the Project PI. Meeting the deliverables by carrying out the computational simulations and experimental studies planned for under the scope of work of the projects within the timeframe to meet the deliverables. Assists the PI in drafting of reports, conference proceedings and journal articles based on the outcome of the projects. Prepares and shares fortnightly report of results from the computations with the PI. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. To communicate and liaise with any internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other adhoc duties assigned by Supervisor. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements: Master or Ph.D (preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Engineering or related fields. Strong knowledge and experience in flashover/building fire simulation is high advantageous. Hands on experience on experimental studies Familiarity with CFD applications working on industrial related projects using high performance computing clusters would also be advantageous Strong foundation in Fluid Dynamics Strong prior experience in CFD – particularly in building fire combustion and spread. Strong skills in turbulence modelling, CFD mesh generation in complex 3D geometries. Proficient in handling large data sets and the ability to analysis and interpret results. Experience in commercial CFD package such as FDS and ANSYS package is preferred. Candidate preferably should be familiar and have sufficient experience in using FDS and ANSYS FLUENT, Meshing tool and post-processing software.
