Kathmandu University, based in Nepal was founded in 1991 and it is the third oldest university in the country. The university offers undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate courses in a variety of fields. There are seven faculties including arts, education, engineering, law, management, medical sciences and science. Within these schools, students can specialise and study courses like geomatics, environmental engineering, computer science, pharmacy, business management, nursing and fine art. The university operates through its seven schools, and campuses in Dhulikhel, Patan, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. The university also owns Kathmandu University High School. Kathmandu University Technical Training Centre has recently been established with a mission to train students to advance the country’s manufacturing sectors, with a particular focus on automobiles, motorbike, carpentry, welding and machining. To aid medical study, there is a teaching hospital called Dhulikhel Hospital, which offers practical teaching experience within various departments. There are laboratories, lecture halls and classrooms, audio visual facilities and a library. The hospital provides care for around 1.9 million people in the region. Outside of the classroom, there are plenty of clubs for students to join. These include society of music and culture, robotics club, geomatics engineering society, architecture students' association and model united nations club. Scholarships are available at KU, which includes full or partial fee payments.
