Karshi State Technical University was established in 2024 following the consolidation of several regional higher education institutions, including the Karshi Engineering and Economics Institute, the Karshi Institute of Irrigation and Agrotechnologies, and local branches of major technical universities based in Tashkent.
The university builds on a longer history of technical and engineering education in southern Uzbekistan, particularly through the Karshi Engineering and Economics Institute, founded in 1995, and was created to strengthen regional capacity in engineering, technology, and industrial development.
The university operates across a central campus in Karshi, a regional city in southern Uzbekistan and the administrative centre of Kashkadarya.
There are seven faculties within the university: energy engineering, transport and construction engineering, oil, gas and geology, irrigation engineering, economics and management, digital technologies and artificial intelligence, and the Shahrisabz Faculty of Food Engineering. Each faculty is divided into different departments, offering a variety of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programmes.
Research and innovation are central to the university’s mission, with priority areas including energy systems, industrial technologies, and digital transformation.

Description The Center for Interdisciplinary Data Science and AI (CIDSAI) at NYU Abu Dhabi is a cross‑disciplinary hub where mathematicians, computer scientists, engineers, and social scientists join forces to push the boundaries of data‑driven discovery. Our mission is two‑fold: to advance fundamental theory in probability and machine learning, and to translate those breakthroughs into high‑impact tools that serve the UAE, the wider Arab world, and global society. We are seeking a Junior Research Scientist to join the team to work under the theme of Computational & Interactive Health under the supervision of Dr. Farah Shamout & Dr. Hanan Salam and in close collaboration with Prof. Nizar Habash. The researcher is expected to have strong machine learning & AI skills and exemplary passion and motivation to pursue multidisciplinary research at the intersection of computing and healthcare. The project has three main objectives: (a) developing robust computational methods for decision-making in health based on clinical use cases of interest, (b) building a tailored health-focused Arabic knowledge interactive language model through the development of benchmark datasets, evaluation frameworks, and specialized LLMs and AI agents, and finally (c) designing specialized interactive multimodal multi-lingual natural interfaces. Qualifications: A master's degree in less than 5 years of research experince in the relevant field or a bachelors degree with any level of experince. Support the research supervisors and team in developing and implementing the research agenda. Conduct high-quality and innovative research primarily focused on Computational & Interactive Health. Generate new high-impact ideas based on gaps and limitations of the state-of-the-art (SOTA). Publish research findings in high-impact journals and conferences. Communicate and present research findings at local and international academic gatherings. Create, maintain, and document high-quality research code for reproducibility. Maintain good practice in managing and accessing sensitive medical datasets. Collaborate with other scientists within the NYU Global Network and in Abu Dhabi.
