Description The Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications for a fully funded Associate Research Scientist position in integrated photonics and optoelectronic device development. The successful candidate will contribute to research on silicon photonics and optoelectronic devices based, with applications in optical communications, sensing, and photonic computing. Experience in silicon photonics is required, while expertise in plasmonics, nanophotonics, and 2D materials is a plus. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary team and have access to state-of-the-art facilities for photonic device design, fabrication, and characterization. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in science or engineering with at least 3 years of experience in the relevant field. Your personal sphere of play: The research group of Prof. Dr. Ina Bergheim, Molecular Nutritional Science, Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Vienna, is looking for support in human studies focusing on the interaction of nutrition, metabolic liver disease and immune responses. We are an interdisciplinary research team working at the interfaces between nutrition and the development of metabolic diseases as well as healthy aging. We build on a good working atmosphere, close collaboration with our students, self-dependent involvement, and coordination of research projects. Your future tasks: You will be responsible for the conceptualization, co-coordination and co-supervision of studies focusing on the effect of nutrition on the gut-liver axis with a particular emphasis on TLR signaling pathways and immune responses, in humans and cell culture models. Participation in paper writing and publication, independent teaching, as defined by the collective agreement, is expected. Furthermore, you will be expected to supervise students, participate in evaluation measures and quality assurance, and be involved in the department administration, as well as teaching and research administration.
