It originated in the 1970s as a technical and vocational institution before evolving into a state college and later gaining university status in 2015.
It offers undergraduate and graduate programmes in agriculture, forestry, engineering, education, business administration, accountancy, criminology, public administration, information technology, health sciences, hospitality management and social sciences.
