Job Responsibilities Provide information materials and consultation on studying abroad, exchange programs, funding, and scholarships. Assist in application and selection processes for international programs in coordination with Academic Affairs. Manage application procedures, coordinate nomination processes, and support students in preparing required documents for double-degree or other exchange programs. Coordinate with partner universities, and academic departments/faculties to create Learning Agreements and ensure credit transfer and academic recognition. Support double-degree programs in Germany and assist students with APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) procedures. Provide visa and travel assistance for outgoing students, including communication with the German Consulate in Guangzhou. Develop and deliver preparation courses for living and studying in Germany, and coordinate with HSBI or other universities on application matters. Perform additional administrative duties related to outgoing student mobility as assigned by the International Office management. Job Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in International Relations, German Studies, Education Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Proven experience with handling student exchange and visa processes, preferably in a university, international office, or study-abroad context. Experience with international exchange programs, mobility programs, or cooperation projects with foreign universities (especially German institutions) is a strong advantage. Experience in academic coordination, credit transfer, or learning agreement administration is highly desirable. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, especially regarding visa documentation and application deadlines. Professional communication and interpersonal skills for cross-cultural collaboration. Strong writing skills for formal correspondence, reports, and student guidelines. Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team. High level of reliability, discretion, and professionalism. Proficiency in standard office software (Microsoft Office or similar tools). Excellent English skills (written and spoken) are required. German language skills (B1 or above) are highly desirable. Basic Chinese proficiency is a plus. Experience in an international academic environment, especially with German-Chinese cooperation, is highly valued. Intercultural competence and the ability to work in a diverse international environment are highly desirable. Department of Construction Management and Intelligence The Department is one of the constituent departments of the Faculty of Construction and Environment, which offers a full range of programmes leading to the awards of Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy, Master of Science and Bachelor of Science. It has an undergraduate student body of over 600 full-time students and a postgraduate student body of over 300. The Department currently has a total of 30 full-time academic / teaching staff, 20 technical and administrative staff and over 100 research personnel. The Department is committed to excellence in teaching, research and service to the community. The University is now inviting applications and nominations for the post of Head of Department of Construction Management and Intelligence. The successful candidate will be appointed Chair Professor/Professor normally on regular terms of appointment (equivalent to tenured professorship), commensurate with his/her qualifications and experience, and will hold a concurrent headship appointment. The concurrent headship appointment is normally for an aggregate period of six years in two three-year terms of office. Other suitable candidate(s) from the search, if deemed appropriate by the University, may be appointed Chair Professor/Professor if not Head of Department. Job Functions The position calls for a visionary academic leader with responsibilities of ensuring the smooth and successful operation and sustainable development of the Department. A Research Technician position is available in the Centre for Cancer Immunology at Southampton General Hospital. This is a newly constructed, dedicated research building that is the result of a significant fund-raising campaign. It builds on a 40 year history of pioneering immunology and cancer research at Southampton, and represents the first dedicated cancer immunology centre in the UK. The activities in this centre span from pioneering discovery science to applied research and preclinical modelling and, crucially, onto first-in-human clinical trials and beyond. The centre houses world-class research facilities, including state-of-the-art scientific laboratories and a clinical trials unit. The position is associated with the laboratory of Professors Ward and Ober. Their interdisciplinary research program is dedicated to the development of novel antibody-based therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and autoimmunity. This research has led to several therapeutics that are currently in advanced clinical trials or approved for clinical use. The group also develops advanced microscopy techniques for the evaluation of novel therapeutics in cellular environments. Their research is supported by major grants from the Welcome Trust, Cancer Research UK and support from collaborating biopharma companies. The appointee will be highly motivated and excited by the challenges involved in supporting a dynamic, interdisciplinary group of researchers. The appointee’s role will be to provide support with the day-to-day running of the laboratory by providing technical support for the experimental work of post-doctoral fellows, research scientists and graduate students, combined with the ordering and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and supplies. The position holder will be expected to be familiar with biosafety and other regulatory processes and follow these procedures as necessary. It is essential to have a skill level equivalent to achievement of HNC, A-Level, NVQ3 with proven work experience acquired in relevant technical support roles and job-related training. The role requires the ability to plan and organise your workload, work well under pressure and communicate effectively and professionally with other laboratory members. A scientific knowledge in a biological field equivalent to B.Sc. level is extremely desirable. The post-holder will possess relevant academic qualifications and work experience as well as good IT skills. The position is for one year. The Role and Department The Department's undergraduate curriculum is notable for its historical and cultural breadth, combining compulsory modules in Theory, Shakespeare and an independent Dissertation, with a range of period-based modules taught by lectures and tutorials, and research-led special topic semininars. There are thriving MA programmes in English Literary Studies and in Creative Writing, and a lively community of PhD students. Applications are invited for a Teaching Fellow in Early Modern Literature. This is a 1.0 FTE position for 12 months only. The successful applicant will: Teach undergraduate tutorials in Introduction to Drama (Level 1) and seminars on John Milton (Level 2). Potentially contribute to Renaissance Literature and/or Shakespeare. Deliver lectures as required in these areas. Supervise Level 3 undergraduate dissertations. Potentially supervise MA theses. Contribute to lively and stimulating small group teaching, in person. Undertake assessment and examination of UG and MA student work, in and beyond Early Modern Literature. Act as an Academic Advisor to a group of UG students. Participate in the meetings of the Department as appropriate. Pursue opportunities for personal development.
