Following the legacy of German mathematician and astronomer Johannes Kepler, famous for his laws that describe planetary motions around the Sun, Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) has developed into an international innovation centre.
The institution is located in close proximity to one of the main economic centres in Austria, Linz, which is famous for its architecture.
Found in 1966 under the name Academy for Social and Economic Sciences, JKU is among world’s youngest universities which has grown to become a leader in interdisciplinary research related to social sciences, economics and business.
With over 60 innovative degrees at all level in traditional areas of study, the institution aims to provide up-to-date programs, which will meet the changing demands of local business and economy.
The 90 acres university campus hosts three faculties: Social Sciences, Economics and Business; Engineering and Natural Sciences; and Law. JKU is the only university in Austria that offers a multimedia diploma degree programme in law. The campus, which is located in the Linz outskirts, is home for over 110 institutes.
The Faculty of Medicine is the most recent addition to JKU, established in 2014. JKU was the first Austrian university to offer studies in human medicine through its bachelor’s degree programme, conducted in cooperation with the Medical University of Graz.
Campus facilities offer free study space where students and academics can meet in non-formal environment. They can also drink at the local bars and pubs, which are only five minutes away from student resident halls.

The Role The School seeks to appoint a two-year Career Development Fellow in French & Francophone Studies. Applications are welcome from those working in all areas of French & Francophone literary and cultural studies, and we are especially interested to receive applications from those with specialisms in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. In line with institutional expectations for Career Development Fellowships, your time will be divided between the three core activities of teaching (60%), research (30%) and citizenship (10%). The post offers an exciting opportunity to develop internationally excellent research/scholarship and teaching while providing unrivalled, tailored support for your career progression at an exciting and progressive institution. Given the developmental nature of the role it is not anticipated that the post will be extended beyond the initial fixed term of two years. Following the end of the term, the role-holder will be in a strong position to apply for relevant permanent academic roles, should they arise, at Durham or elsewhere. Successful applicants are normally expected to be within 8 years of completing their PhD, although career breaks for parental leave and/or health reasons will be considered. Description The Smart Materials Lab (Panče Naumov Group) at the Division of Science and Mathematics, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a highly motivated associate research scientist candidate in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for materials science, with an emphasis on structure-property-relationships, materials optimization, materials under extreme conditions, and generative AI. Candidates must possess substantial experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning methods, specifically in AI-driven materials discovery, machine learning applications for materials, or generative AI related to materials. The successful candidate will independently lead a project focused on developing generative AI models to establish structure-property relationships for materials discovery. This individual will be expected to collaborate closely with the project team and coordinate efforts with experimentalists from the Smart Materials Lab (SML) and the Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM) at NYUAD.
