Jianghan University was established as a technical college by Wuhan’s city government in 1981, but set up its four-year undergraduate programme almost a decade later. It merged with the Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Hankou branch) and Wuhan Worker's Medical College in 2001. Its main campus is in Hanyang, with two smaller campuses in Hankou and Wuchang. Jianghan University has 18 schools, which include school of business; school of politics and law; school of humanities; school of art; school of electromechanical and architectural engineering; school of physics and information engineering; school of mathematics and computer sciences; school of chemistry and environmental engineering; school of medicine; school of life sciences; school of education; school of foreign languages; school of physical education; school of continuing education; school of higher vocational and technical education; school of modern arts; school of golf, and school of health technology. Through these, it offers 51 degree programmers taught by 975 teachers and professors. There are 16,000 full time students studying at Jianghan University. It has a library with over 1.72 million volumes. There are also over 20 scientific research institutes including the Institute of Development, and the Institute of Higher Education Research, through which the university is undertaking or has completed a large number of scientific research programs, many of which have reached international or state advanced levels, or won state, ministerial or provincial awards. It has developed good working relationships with universities and higher education institutions across the world, including the US, France, Japan, Canada, Germany and Korea.

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop new herbicide compounds focusing on synthesis and characterizations of HPPD inhibitor herbicides. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. i. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: ii. Design and synthesize novel HPPD inhibitor compounds iii. Conduct laboratory experiments for the synthesis of target compounds, including purification and characterization using techniques such as NMR, MS, FTIR, GC and HPLC Optimize synthetic routes and troubleshoot any challenges encountered during synthesis Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements A master’s degree or Ph.D. in chemistry, or a related field. Experience in organic synthesis techniques and analytical instrumentation. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Description The Smart Materials Lab (Panče Naumov Group) at the Division of Science and Mathematics, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a highly motivated associate research scientist candidate in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for materials science, with an emphasis on structure-property-relationships, materials optimization, materials under extreme conditions, and generative AI. Candidates must possess substantial experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning methods, specifically in AI-driven materials discovery, machine learning applications for materials, or generative AI related to materials. The successful candidate will independently lead a project focused on developing generative AI models to establish structure-property relationships for materials discovery. This individual will be expected to collaborate closely with the project team and coordinate efforts with experimentalists from the Smart Materials Lab (SML) and the Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM) at NYUAD. The results of this work are anticipated to be published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at prominent conferences. We offer unique opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaborations, organization of scientific workshops, and attendance at conferences. Key qualifications include a PhD with at least 3 years in a relevant field, expertise in AI/ML (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Python), interest in materials applications, and a strong publication record. This position is situated within the Centre for Immersification, dedicated to applied research in immersive technologies and bridging the gap between academia and industry. Research staff at the Centre have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets relevant to industry demands while working on innovative projects within the university. The primary responsibility of this role is to contribute to the design, development, and deployment of an advanced content moderation framework for immersive 3D virtual environments, such as Roblox and Minecraft. The engineer will play a key role in building a parallelized, agent-driven exploration system and integrating a multimodal detection pipeline, ensuring real-time performance, scalability, and deployment readiness in alignment with the project’s research objectives. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of faculty members, engineers, and industry partners, including renowned researchers at the College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) at NTU. Technical skills, natural curiosity, versatility, and enthusiasm are highly desired traits that will enable success in this fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Manage the research project together with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Collaborate with the PI, Co-PIs and NTU team to design and develop a robust and scalable software system for autonomous agents navigating immersive 3D virtual environments (e.g., Roblox, Minecraft). Implement a parallelized agent-driven framework where multiple LLM-powered agents operate concurrently to explore user-generated worlds and trigger diverse contextual scenarios. Develop a unified multimodal detection pipeline that integrates video, audio, and text leveraging fine-tuned Vision-Language Models (VLMs) from WP3, supporting zero-shot reasoning and scene-graph inference. Ensure the system is deployment-ready by supporting benchmarking of inference speed, compute efficiency, and scalability with concurrent agents. Enable real-time adaptive learning via human-in-the-loop feedback and reinforcement learning mechanisms in collaboration with other work packages. Maintain high software engineering standards through rigorous testing, version control, clear documentation, and continuous improvement of development infrastructure (e.g., CI/CD, Docker, cloud-based services). Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Responsibilities Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a related field. Hands-on experience in designing and implementing software systems involving multi-agent frameworks. Familiarity with immersive platform development (e.g., Roblox, Minecraft), including scripting (Lua/Java), agent behavior modeling, event handling, and API-based integration with external AI systems. Experience with distributed systems, reinforcement learning, or simulation environments (e.g., Unity3D, OpenAI Gym, WebGL) is advantageous. Experience in developing and deploying cloud-based applications (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure), including containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), serverless computing, and REST API development.
