The Role and the Department The Department of Engineering is seeking a Department Manager to lead the Department's organisational and administrative functions, providing strategic support across learning and teaching, the student experience, research, finance, and impact. Working closely with the Head of Department and Senior Management Team, the post holder will contribute to business planning, help shape strategic priorities, oversee the Department's budget and resource allocation, and manage HR processes. They will also strengthen communication mechanisms, particularly through effective IT systems, and identify opportunities to enhance service quality through innovation and continuous improvement. The role includes maintaining and analysing management information, including KPIs and other performance metrics. The Department Manager will be an active member of key committees, including the Senior Management Team, Strategic Advisory Board, Board of Studies, Education Committee, Research Committee, EDI and Wellbeing Committee, and the Athena Swan SAT, as well as contributing to Faculty level and University working groups. Building strong relationships with academic colleagues, professional services teams, and external partners, including transnational partners in Wuhan, China, will be essential. The role requires balancing institutional risk with enabling academic activity, ensuring departmental readiness and the effective delivery of new initiatives. The post includes line management of a team of administrative and ancillary staff. We are looking for someone who is motivated by working in an educational environment and committed to making a meaningful contribution. The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail focused, and proactive, able to manage a varied and fast paced workload and work across multiple concurrent activities. They will be committed to continuous improvement, confident in solving problems, and skilled at building productive working relationships across the Department, Faculty, University services, and external partners to support and drive strategic aims and objectives, and ensure Department engagement with and successful implementation of local and University-wide projects and initiatives. They must demonstrate personal resilience and emotional intelligence in effectively dealing with a wide range of academic and professional services staff and students, as well as often complex process management challenges. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop new herbicide compounds focusing on synthesis and characterizations of HPPD inhibitor herbicides. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. i. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: ii. Design and synthesize novel HPPD inhibitor compounds iii. Conduct laboratory experiments for the synthesis of target compounds, including purification and characterization using techniques such as NMR, MS, FTIR, GC and HPLC Optimize synthetic routes and troubleshoot any challenges encountered during synthesis Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements A master’s degree or Ph.D. in chemistry, or a related field. Experience in organic synthesis techniques and analytical instrumentation. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. FoodPlant Pte Ltd Position: Technician If you accept this role, your work located will be at Senoko. Responsibilities: Provide support to ensure the facility functions effectively, while complying with the relevant legislation and statutory requirements. Manage equipment/ facility calibration and maintenance activities. Support in starting up utilities services timely in preparation for production operation. Ensure safety, cleanliness and order of the facility. Assist in the preparation of Risk Assessment, Safe Work Procedures and other relevant documents. Track records of all documentation including Risk Assessment, Safe Work Procedures, inventory records of consumables such as hazardous and bio-hazardous chemicals, electronic components and mechanical spare parts. Handle the procurement and logistics for apparatus and consumables. Provide support to staff in the preparation of materials and setting up equipment for production. Perform any other administrative duties and responsibilities and ad-hoc duties as directed by the head of the facility. Support R&D and commercial production for client projects.   Requirements: Minimum Polytechnic Diploma, or an equivalent qualification. Possession of a Class II boiler license is an advantage. At least 3-5 years of experience in a research or production environment within the food industry. Resourceful team player with a positive working attitude. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Note: You will be offered a Research Engineer role with a business title of Technical Officer.

Full-Time | Continuing Higher Education Officer Level 8 – Final salary will be commensurate with experience Location: Bedford Park / Kaurna Country View Position Description   About the Role   The Senior Security Operations Engineer is responsible for implementing cyber security initiatives across the University and carrying out and implementing specialised cyber security controls, services, and activities, along with supporting the research and evaluation of procedural and technical controls and solutions that can be applied to provide security to the University’s IT networks and systems.   You will work closely with other practitioners and teams to ensure the ongoing security and effectiveness of the University’s network and system assets, and the stable and continuous operation of the University’s mission-critical systems and applications.   Key position responsibilities include: Configuring, deploying and maintaining new and existing security platforms, including email filtering, firewall, intrusion prevention/detection systems, and VPN and host protection systems. Managing the ongoing application of the IDS risk register, identifying and ensuring the management of key risks that may impact on the security of the University’s systems and networks. Supporting with identifying technological trends and developing reports as necessary to keep IDS management apprised of information security threats and planned equipment or software changes that could impact system and network security and availability. Providing support on security matters relating to disaster recovery and business continuity, ensuring that disaster recovery plans and business continuity plans appropriately address security requirements in maintaining the provision of services.
