Founded in 2013, Jabir ibn Hayyan Medical University (JMU) is one of the first specialised universities in Iraq. The campus is based in Najaf, which is situated in central Iraq. Located about 100 miles south of Baghdad, Najaf lies on a ridge just west of the Euphrates River. The faculty of medicine was established in 2013 with 86 students. Since then, the offering has expanded and there are now three more faculties: dentistry, pharmacy and nursing. There’s also a large university hospital with 600 beds and a research centre in various fields of medicine. Within these faculties, students can gain both bachelor and masters degrees in a wide variety of specialties. JMU has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The university’s main mission is to prepare and qualify excellent physicians, dentists, pharmacists and nurses with the ability to provide the country with the best medical services and health care possible. On campus, JMU has a library, housing and sports facilities. JMU also has partnerships with other universities worldwide offering students the chance to spend a year studying abroad. It has also established scientific relationships and cultural exchange with global universities to boost research opportunities.

The Department seeks a candidate whose scholarship and teaching will strengthen its research, graduate teaching, and programme development in an area of strategic growth. We are particularly interested in applicants whose expertise lies at the intersection of instructional design, adult learning, professional education, and the pedagogically sound use of artificial intelligence to support learning design, facilitation, feedback, and learner support. It has recruited highly accomplished faculty (four colleagues among the Top 2% most highly cited researchers according to Stanford University and three among Elsevier’s most highly cited researchers in China) from globally distinguished institutions working in these key disciplines. About You We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Technical Group Leader to provide leadership across our Digital Fabrication Labs (dfUEL), Print and Fashion technical provision. This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and forward-thinking technical leader to help shape a future-facing technical environment within a highly interdisciplinary Higher Education setting. In this role, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary team of technicians supporting students, academic staff, researchers and external partners across Arts & Creative Industries (ACI) and Architecture, Computing & Engineering (ACE). You’ll oversee specialist workshops, digital fabrication facilities and technical resources, ensuring safe, effective and innovative technical support that enhances learning, teaching, research and creative practice.
