The role will be student facing and provide support for teaching across a number of degree programmes. The role involves preparing and managing undergraduate practical programmes whilst also providing technical support in departmental research, core facilities, workshop, stores and outreach activities. Salary: Technical Officer (2026): €47,619– €62,315p.a. (7 points) Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions. The Department has existing strength in Chinese history, Hong Kong history, public history, and global history, along with various subfields such as media, gender, animal, and environmental studies. General Requirements Applicants should hold a PhD in History or a closely related field. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to research and teaching excellence, with an outstanding track record of scholarly publications in internationally leading peer-reviewed journals and major scholarly presses, as well as extensive experience in teaching and course development. The ability to contribute to the Department’s strategic areas—global Asia, public history, or/and digital history—is essential. Experience in digital humanities will be considered an advantage. Over the years, our faculty members have been the recipients of the University’s Research Excellence Award and Teaching Excellence Award. The Department offers undergraduate teaching in Sociology, Social and Public Policy, and Health and Social Services Management, while hosting an MSocSc Programme in Comparative Social Policy (International) (IMCSP).
