The Department of History of State and Law is a unit of the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University that carries out educational and scientific research activities in the field of legal history and Roman law. In terms of teaching, it primarily delivers compulsory courses in Modern Czech and Czechoslovak Legal History, General Legal History and Roman Law, as well as compulsory elective courses in these fields. In the field of scientific research, the department focuses primarily on the issues of modern Czech legal history in its entirety, specifically the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic, the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, and the period of socialism and the functioning of law under totalitarian regimes, as well as the history of legal science. The department’s research also includes studies in the field of Roman law and its institutions, including their legacy and influence on subsequent legal developments and contemporary law. Your duties will include: teaching on courses primarily focused on Roman law within accredited degree programmes and lifelong learning programmes, including the preparation of teaching materials, research activities, including publishing and applied research, making a significant contribution to project work and contract research, contributing to the organisational and administrative aspects of research and teaching activities. We require: a completed Master’s degree from a law faculty, specialising in Law, a Ph.D. (for the position of Assistant Lecturer), the ability to teach and publish in the Czech language, a genuine interest in the field of Roman law, information regarding concurrent employment within the meaning of Section 70 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions, as amended, the ability to teach independently in the field of Roman law in both Czech and English, ideally with experience of teaching at university level, the ability to conduct independent research in the field of Roman law in Czech and English, ideally demonstrated by relevant academic publications or participation in research projects, good character. The department closely cooperates with the Department of Psychiatry, the Department of Neurosurgery, the Department of Clinical Psychology, and the Department of Rehabilitation. In terms of treatment and prevention, it provides both primary general neurological care within its catchment area (including consultation services for all inpatient facilities of the Brno University Hospital) and highly specialized consultative care at the regional level. In addition to the intensive care unit, it also operates specialized intensive beds within the Stroke Unit, which is an integral part of the Highly Specialized Comprehensive Cerebrovascular Care Center of University Hospital Brno. Beyond its cerebrovascular program, the Department of Neurology focuses on research in neuromuscular disorders, multiple sclerosis, sleep medicine, and spinal disorders. The Department Head position candidate must be a respected expert in the field of neurology, with experience of working in a given area and with expertise in pre-graduate and postgraduate education. The Head of the department will be responsible for the management of the clinic, undergraduate medical education, doctoral studies, publishing and coordination of research conducted at the clinic. The School of Humanities at Macquarie University is seeking to employ a Lecturer to support the research program associated with the fellowship and to cover his teaching for four years. The role follows a 60 to 40 research and teaching split. The role The position holder will contribute to research and teaching within the discipline of Philosophy in the School of Humanities. The research duties include data collection, data analysis, agent based modelling of social epistemic networks, and the writing of research articles that form part of the fellowship program.
