Job Description:

The International Water Research Institute (IWRI) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in desalination and water treatment, within the framework of an applied research project.

We are seeking highly motivated candidates with demonstrated expertise in seawater desalination pretreatment, with a particular emphasis on the Membrane-Based Processes. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, optimization, and scale-up of advanced pretreatment solutions for seawater desalination.

The selected candidate will join a dynamic, collaborative, and interdisciplinary research environment, characterized by a strong tradition of integrating fundamental research with applied engineering to deliver impactful, real-world solutions to pressing water challenges.

Key Duties:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:


	Seawater monitoring and characterization:
	Planning and conducting periodic sampling campaigns of raw seawater, and monitoring its physicochemical and biological quality.
	Data analysis and modeling:
	Processing and analyzing seawater quality data and developing statistical and mathematical models to correlate feed-water characteristics with pretreatment performance.
	System design and laboratory experimentation:
	Designing, assembling, and operating a lab-scale Membrane-Based system for seawater pretreatment, including system configuration, optimization, and performance validation.
	Operation and maintenance protocol development:
	Developing and implementing a comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) protocol to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Membrane-Based system.
	Pilot-scale testing and field deployment:
	Organizing and conducting field missions and pilot-scale trials to assess the efficiency, robustness, and operational behavior of the Membrane-Based pretreatment process under real seawater conditions.
	Performance assessment and process optimization:
	Collecting and interpreting operational data, diagnosing performance limitations or fouling issues, and proposing data-driven corrective actions and process improvements.
	Reporting and knowledge transfer:
	Preparing high-quality technical reports, datasets, presentations, and documentation for internal team.
	Scientific dissemination:
	Contributing to peer-reviewed scientific publications and presenting research outcomes at national and international conferences.


Qualifications & Requirements:


	PhD in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Water-Process Engineering, Membrane Materials and Processes, or a closely related discipline.
	Relevant experience in desalination and/or filtration systems, at laboratory, pilot, or industrial scale.
	A strong background in ceramic membrane materials and processes is a significant advantage.
	Mandatory hands-on experience with water treatment processes.
	Experience in water quality analysis for evaluating and monitoring the performance of water treatment systems.
	Proven experience in leading or contributing to research projects is highly desirable.
	Demonstrated ability to generate innovative ideas, build upon existing concepts, and develop novel, practical solutions.
	Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.
	Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken.
	Demonstrated ability to write high-quality scientific manuscripts suitable for publication in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
	Willingness to travel for fieldwork and project-related activities; a valid driver’s license is required.

The Role

About You

We're looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician with a passion for quality workmanship and continuous improvement.

	An HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline. 
	Experience operating a range of conventional and/ or CNC machine tools. 
	Significant experience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
	A strong understanding of workshop health and safety requirements. 
	The ability to interpret technical drawings and translate concepts into high-quality manufactured components. 
	Excellent practical problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
	The ability to plan, prioritise and manage workload with minimal supervision.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a veterinary degree and MRCVS for a part-time (0.5 FTE) Lecturer post to act as Student Engagement Lead. The successful applicant will join a team of fellow professionals within the School of Veterinary Medicine committed to providing excellence in teaching for the benefit of a new generation of vets. 

The roles will involve a range of responsibilities including:


	Delivery of high-quality, creative and evidence-based teaching activities, critically reviewing learning approaches, and implementing innovative assessment and pedagogical practices
	Creation and maintenance of engaging learning materials and digital teaching resources
	Coordination and quality assurance of teaching and student support provision while contributing to curriculum development and programme innovation
	Support of the School’s attendance monitoring processes through accurate record keeping, auditing of attendance data, and working closely with academic staff and students
	Engagement with pedagogical research and collaborative academic projects to ensure teaching practice remains current, relevant, and responsive to sector developments.

Research Focus

We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher of high calibre to join our established research team working in the area of electronic textiles (e-textiles). The position is funded by the EU project “e-Flower” which has a multidisciplinary approach combining eco-design, co-design and Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) principles with innovations in materials and processing technologies to deliver durable and sustainable e-textiles. 

In this role, you will be based in the Centre for Flexible Electronics and E-Textiles within the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS). You will join an interdisciplinary research team that includes members from the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences and Winchester School of Art working towards the development of practical e-textile systems.

This role will involve research on the following activities:


	E-Textile system development and manufacturing for a range of applications. This will focus on a modular system architecture that will enable the seamless integration of electronic, textile, and energy-storage components developed across the project. 
	Evaluate the reliability of the devices and processes developed in in the project utilising and developing bending, twisting and dynamic stretch testing systems compliant with the IPC-8981 Quality and Reliability of e-Textile Wearables standard.
	Develop demonstrator e-textile systems for specific use case scenarios. 


To be successful with your application, you will need to demonstrate: 


	A PhD in an electronics related topic, or equivalent qualifications and experience.
	Experience of electronic systems design, practical circuit assembly techniques and circuit testing.
	Excellent experimental research skills with a strong publication track record in high-quality international journals.
