The Deputy Chair will provide crucial support to the Chair, acting as a trusted adviser and deputising where required. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology, Virology, or related disciplines and demonstrated a strong track record in virological research, in particular on the following areas: (1) understanding virus-virus or virus-host interaction with structural biology; (2) artificial intelligence or computational-guided virological research; (3) immunity and immunopathology to viruses; (4) multiple-omics investigations of virus-induced host response. They should demonstrate a strong commitment to and evidence of excellence in teaching and its development, preferably in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases, to help advance the strengths of the Department’s teaching in the broad spectrum of medical and health sciences education. They should be able to conduct courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; supervise postgraduate research students; demonstrate the potential for conducting independent research by track record on research publications; and also demonstrate broad knowledge and clinical experience in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases, preferably from laboratory to the bedside.
