The Islamic University is a private university in Najaf, Iraq, in which all classes, except for language classes, are taught in English. Founded in 2003 after the Saddam regime had been defeated as the Islamic College for Men, it aimed to admit all men without regard to nationality, race or religion. In 2004, the institution became coeducational. Today, the university has over 7,000 undergraduate students, over half of whom are female. There are over 200 full-time and over 40 part-time faculty staff members, making a students to faculty ratio of about 11 to 1. There are also over 1,600 graduate students. Over 20 per cent of students are international, originating from nearly 90 different countries, and alumni now live in more than 120 countries worldwide. Nearly 80 per cent of students receive scholarship aid. The university offers degrees of three, four or eight years at bachelors, masters and MD level. There are six faculties, including arts and sciences, engineering, health sciences, medicine and social science. These include departments such as law, political and international sciences, Quranic and linguistic studies, Islamic studies, media, technology of computer engineering and technology of air conditioning engineering. In 2007 and again in 2012, the university won the status of a University of Excellence in the Iraq government’s Excellence Initiative. Facilities on the 60.9 acre campus include a medical centre with 420 beds, an athletics centre, four libraries, three museums, two art galleries, seven dormitories, athletic fields and gardens.

Description The Smart Materials Lab (Panče Naumov Group) at the Division of Science and Mathematics, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a highly motivated associate research scientist candidate in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for materials science, with an emphasis on structure-property-relationships, materials optimization, materials under extreme conditions, and generative AI. Candidates must possess substantial experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning methods, specifically in AI-driven materials discovery, machine learning applications for materials, or generative AI related to materials. The successful candidate will independently lead a project focused on developing generative AI models to establish structure-property relationships for materials discovery. This individual will be expected to collaborate closely with the project team and coordinate efforts with experimentalists from the Smart Materials Lab (SML) and the Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM) at NYUAD. The results of this work are anticipated to be published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at prominent conferences. Job Purpose The Research Fellow / Research Engineer (with focus on MedTech / HealthTech Engineering) will support applied research and innovation in community and allied health by translating clinical and operational needs into engineering requirements, prototypes, technical evaluations, deployment support and evidence reports. The role focuses on hands-on medtech / healthtech engineering, project coordination and implementation support for healthcare projects. This role is focused on MedTech / HealthTech Engineering. The candidate should have good project-management discipline and experience coordinating engineering, prototyping, testing or implementation workstreams with clear outcomes delivered. The Research Fellow / Research Engineer will support academic staff and project leads, and contribute his/her assigned share to team-level KPI targets through practical engineering and deployment outputs. Key Responsibilities Applied Research & Development Translate clinical needs assessment and workflow analysis into engineering requirements for organisational innovation transition, focusing on but not limited to community and aged care settings, nursing homes, hospitals, home-based care and palliative care settings.
