Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM) was originally established in 1998 and welcomed its first admission of students two years later. It was initially known as Kolej Universiti Islam Malaysia (KUIM), but it was renamed Islamic Science University of Malaysia in 2007.

When USIM first welcomed its students in 2000, it was situated on a temporary campus known as Institut Professional Baitulmal, Kuala Lumpur. In 2005 it moved to its permanent campus in Nilai, while the medical faculty remained in Kuala Lumpur.

The university is comprised of nine faculties: Quranic and Sunnah Studies, Syariah and Law, Leadership and Management, Economics and Muamalat, Science and Technology, Medicine and Health Sciences, Major Language Studies, Dentistry, and Engineering and Built Environment. Each faculty is divided into different departments offering a variety of degree programmes at undergraduate, graduate and PhD level.

USIM is home to several Centres of Excellence that facilitate its research activity. These include the Institute of Fatwa and Halal, the Islamic Science Institute, and the Ummi Maktum Research Centre.

We are seeking a Community Engagement and Programs Officer, specialising in research translation and strategic communication, to join the Centre and collaborate across the Faculty to amplify the Centre’s research impact. Working closely with Centre members, University communications teams, and external partners, you will craft clear, compelling, and accessible narratives that promotes the centre’s research and programs. Are you interested making logistics more sustainable? This role offers the opportunity to conduct in-depth research into logistics systems, supply chain renewal, and emerging technologies. You will be part of an international academic community committed to impactful science and close collaboration with industry. The professorship of sustainable logistics in industrial engineering and management is located at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) of the LUT School of Engineering Sciences. The position is based in Kouvola, Finland. IEM is an integrative, solution-oriented discipline that addresses organisations and their networks as technological, economic, and social systems with the objective of enabling innovations, creating value, and leading businesses towards high efficiency, profitability, and sustainability. The department’s research focuses specifically on innovation and technology management, logistics and supply chains, operations management, cost and performance management, entrepreneurship, and systems engineering. What we expect from you The professorship will reinforce the IEM department’s logistics and innovation research and education. The person appointed to the position must present strong research merits in sustainable logistics in industrial management. Applicants must have proven expertise in at least one of the following fields: Logistics management and services, transportation systems Supply chain management, sustainability in logistics Artificial intelligence in logistic applications of industrial management Practical experience in the field is not a requirement in this position, but strong evidence of industrial research and development projects is considered an advantage. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. This project focuses on federated causal inference in heterogeneous data environments, addressing the challenge of enabling trustworthy causal analysis across distributed datasets while preserving privacy. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end investigation of novel federated learning strategies for causal inference. The role will bridge rigorous theoretical work with hands-on algorithm design and development on real-world datasets. The core responsibility is to build and validate federated causal inference algorithms through simulations and live demonstrations. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI) to ensure all project deliverables are met. Derivation of novel performance metrics for federated causal inference algorithms. Analysis of causal inference models in federated settings using synthetic and real-world datasets. Design and development of novel federated causal inference algorithms and associated software APIs. Validation of algorithms via simulations and live demonstrations. Job Requirements A Master's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or equivalent. Strong theoretical background in statistics and machine learning. Knowledge of the basics of federated learning and causal inference is highly encouraged. Proven track record in research and development of machine learning algorithms. Proficiency in algorithm development using Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. Key Competencies Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Able to build and maintain strong working relationships with people within and external to the university. Self-directed learner who believes in continuous learning and development. The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Helsinki invites applications for the position of a part-time (35%)  ASSISTANT PROFESSOR / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / PROFESSOR  The field of the position is medical genetics and the language of instruction is Swedish. The position may be filled as assistant professor, associate professor or professor depending on the candidates’ merits and career stage. The professorship in medical genetics is associated with a research director’s position at Folkhälsan Research Centre. Applicants must submit separate applications for the professorship and the research director’s position. An appointee to the position of assistant professor in the tenure track system shall hold a doctoral degree, have the ability to conduct independent scholarly work and have the teaching skills necessary for the position. In addition, applicants for assistant professorships shall demonstrate their ability and motivation for an academic career through publications and other means. When considering applicants’ qualifications, account shall be taken not only of their research work and teaching qualifications, but also of their success in obtaining external research funding, international research experience and other international experience. An appointee to a professorship shall hold a doctoral degree and have top-level scholarly qualifications, experience in the supervision of scientific research, as well as the ability to provide toplevel research-based teaching and to supervise theses and dissertations. Applicants should possess a medical degree registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong, a relevant higher academic qualification (e.g. M.D., Ph.D.), a higher qualification in internal medicine, and a specialist qualification in gastroenterology recognized by the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine or its equivalent. They should have proven capacity and potential, and an outstanding track record of active research, including high-impact research output, external competitive grants and research awards; demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in clinical services and training; and have engaged in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. They should also be fluent in Cantonese, Putonghua and English, although teaching, research and professional activities are conducted in English. Preference will be given to those with a track record in research governance, university and hospital administration, and experience in both early- and late-phase clinical trials.  The appointee is expected to participate in the planning and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; conduct research in gastroenterology; develop and provide regular clinical services and patient care at the University’s affiliate teaching hospitals; and contribute to administrative duties in the Department, Hospitals and Faculty.
