IQS School of Management is part of a century-old university base in Barcelona, founded by Jesuits as part of Ramon Llull University. Offering undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, the university is considered to be one of the most prestigious in both the national and international rankings. The IQS School of Management is recognised as one of the best undergraduate schools for business administration in Spain and is known too for its specialist master’s programmes. As a flagship of its master’s programmes, the Master’s in Global Entrepreneurial Management allows students to learn about global management and entrepreneurship in each of the three continents where the programme is taught. The programme runs from September until December at IQS School of Management, Ramon Llull University (Barcelona, Spain), from January until April at Fu Jen Catholic University (Taipei, Taiwan), and from May until August at the University of San Francisco (San Francisco, USA). All three institutions fall within approximately the top 12 per cent of business schools accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (www.aacsb.edu). Among several international partnerships, IQS School of Management has agreements with the Free University of Berlin, Grenoble School of Management, the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan; and in the US with Ohio University, Pennsylvania State University, University of San Francisco, Loyola University, and several others. Employing a comprehensive teaching methodology that has been proven to equip students with the skills necessary for creating, leading and managing industrial and technology-based organisations, the school’s ethos is also based on deeply held values derived from a Christian conception of life. Links between IQS and private companies allow student to be taught by professionals with specific backgrounds in business management. The school is located in Barcelona, which is the most cosmopolitan and active city in Spain and also a perfect setting for world events and business links.

As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for individuals who has or can demonstrate the capacity to achieve the following: Lecturer: a PhD in Psychology or closely related discipline a sustained record of independently conducting high-quality research that builds on and/or supports the School's existing strengths, including publishing research in high-quality international peer-reviewed journals experience in submitting applications for nationally and/or internationally competitive research funding (e.g. ARC/NHRMC/MRFF) and/or for industry/stakeholder-linked funding a record of establishing an independent research programme and developing a successful research team, including national and/or international collaborations experience in providing outstanding research training (e.g. honours/PhD) deliver high quality teaching, including developing innovative course content and assessments sound experience of teaching and learning, and the ability to contribute to teaching at undergraduate, honours and post graduate levels in lecture, tutorial, seminars and other educational settings in various areas of psychology high levels of communication and organisational skills relevant to managing research and teaching the capacity to contribute to governance, leadership, and engagement within the School and across the broader University the ability to work collaboratively with other academic and professional staff, including fostering and enhancing principles of equity, diversity and inclusion. Senior Lecturer: in addition to above, has demonstrated capacity to: the ability to establish and lead a team of researchers to enhance the standing of the School a record of securing nationally competitive research funding (e.g. ARC/NHRMC/MRFF) and/or industry/stakeholder-linked funding the ability to lead curriculum development that enhances student learning outcomes in the Psychology curriculum. The McCarthy Lab has an exciting opportunity for a prospective Research Technician who is interested in synthetic biology approaches to engineer biofilms to better tackle environmental challenges. You will be joining a highly interdisciplinary project, where we will blend synthetic biology, environmental engineering, and biotechnology to develop disruptive solutions to major environmental challenges. Experience with advanced cloning systems, CRISPR tools, metagenomic mining and the use of different biofilm imaging platforms is highly desirable. There will be a particular focus on developing approaches to harness bacterial community behaviours like biofilm formation to better tackle environmental pollutants such as waste plastics. Our aim is to leverage cutting-edge advancements in synthetic biology and biofilm engineering to develop innovative strategies for bioremediation, with a key focus on scalable solutions that can be readily adopted by the waste and water sectors. This fast-paced project will give the successful candidate the opportunity to develop new skills by working closely with our interdisciplinary team and build their international profile including through research visits to academic collaborators and working with SMEs. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate and efficient data generation, data management, collation and the reporting of results to the project lead. The post-holder will need to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, organisational, team working and communication skills and have a keen interest in drafting research outputs for peer-review publication. The successful applicant will work closely with other researchers within the McCarthy Lab and with other EBIC partners. There will also be opportunities to explore the commercial  Applicants must have a BSc or MSc in a relevant discipline. Experience and knowledge in the field of biofilm formation is essential. Experience in some or all of the following: advanced cloning systems, CRISPR tools, metagenomic mining and the use of different biofilm imaging platforms is highly desirable. They should be enthusiastic, well motivated and be able to work both independently and collaboratively. This position is available for 32 months.
