The Department of Data and Systems Engineering is one of the engineering departments in the Faculty of Engineering, offering B.Eng., M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in all major fields of data and systems engineering. Applicants should have a PhD degree in biological/medical sciences or related disciplines, with post-doctoral research experience in virology, microbiology and/or immunology. Prior experience in conducting animal research is preferred. They should have a strong quantitative and qualitative background; a proven research track record; excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese; and the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The appointee will be responsible for a project funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, and applicants with experience in handling trust-initiated/foundation-funded projects will be highly desirable.  The appointee will be responsible for working on collaborative projects related to vaccine development for influenza and other respiratory diseases. He/she will be expected to take a leading role in overseeing research projects and supervising junior research staff.
