CALS will offer one lawyer a two-year teaching fellowship (July 2026-June 2028), providing a unique opportunity to learn how to teach law in a clinical setting. Since 1995, CALS has specialized in immigration law, specifically in asylum practice. Guided by faculty and fellows, law students represent clients in immigration court and in asylum adjudications by the Department of Homeland Security.At CALS, our two fellows and faculty members work as colleagues, sharing responsibilities for designing and teaching classes, supervising law students in their representation of clients, selecting and grading students, administering the clinic, and all other matters. Clinical fellows also monitor and manage any cases that the students are not working on during the current semester. In addition, the fellow will undertake independent legal scholarship, conducting the research and writing to produce a law review article of publishable quality. All Georgetown clinical teaching fellows are enrolled in an LLM program and attend a weekly course focused on clinical teaching and pedagogy during their first year. They also have the opportunity to attend a weekly seminar focused on academic scholarship and writing. Both CALS and Georgetown faculty support fellows entering the legal teaching job market at the end of their first year.This fellowship is particularly suitable for lawyers with some degree of practice experience who now want to embark upon careers in law teaching. Most of our previous fellows are now teaching law or have done so for substantial portions of their careers.The fellow currently receive full tuition and fees in the LL.M. program at Georgetown University, and a stipend of $70,000 in the first year and $75,000 in the second year. The Division of Engineering at NYU Abu Dhabi is searching for accomplished visiting faculty in Computer Engineering to educate the next generation of global leaders. Multidisciplinary research and exceptional teaching in a highly diverse and inclusive campus community are hallmarks of the University’s mission.

Applicants should have a relevant PhD and demonstrate an outstanding track record for their career stage in both research and teaching. The visiting position is for one academic year, and the expected teaching load is four courses (two courses per semester) with relatively small class sizes.

Expertise in Quantum Physics is a plus point. Applicants with a PhD in Quantum Physics are also welcome, but they should have a focus on Quantum Circuits, Quantum Algorithms, and preferably expertise in developing Software for Quantum Machines.The appointment will be for a period of two years, and extensions to longer terms are possible upon review.

The terms of employment for these positions include a very competitive salary with additional attractive benefits, including generous housing allowance, medical insurance with access to world class facilities, annual home leave allowance, and (if applicable) dependent private school fees. Salaries are tax-free in the UAE (for US tax, the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion can be used). The ERC-funded project “Death, Smoke, and Mirrors: Manipulation of Health Data in Authoritarian and Custodial Institutions” (2025–2030) investigates how custodial institutions in both liberal and authoritarian regimes manipulated health and mortality data from the nineteenth to the twentieth century, and what these practices reveal about governance, accountability, and the politics of life and death.

The Aleksanteri Institute invites applications for two (2) Postdoctoral Researcher positions (starting from March 2026 or as agreed) in this project, led by PI Dr. Mikhail Nakonechnyi. The positions are full-time and fixed term for two (2) years, with the possibility of extension. The appointments include a six month probationary period in accordance with University of Helsinki regulations. Regular physical presence in Helsinki is required; these positions cannot be performed remotely.

Key responsibilities include:


	Archival research in the British Library (India Office Records, including IOR/V/27/170).
	Fieldwork in the National Archives of India, including Home, Judicial, Medical, and Andaman Penal Colony records.
	Work with personal papers of major nineteenth-century reformers (e.g., Florence Nightingale, Mary Carpenter, F.J. Mouat).
	Collection and analysis of vernacular (Hindi essential; desirable: Urdu, Bengali, Tamil, or other languages) and English-language newspapers.
	Qualitative analysis of official jail reports, administrative correspondence, and vernacular (Hindi essential; desirable: Bengali, Urdu, or Tamil) and English-language prisoner memoirs.
	Production of peer-reviewed articles and active participation in project meetings and collaborative outputs.


Required qualifications:


	Doctoral degree in History, Criminology, South Asian Studies, or a closely related field.
	Research expertise in British Indian penal history and the British Raj generally.
	Fluency in Hindi essential; desirable: Urdu, Bengali, Tamil, or other languages.
	Demonstrated archival research experience.
	Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international team.


General requirements:


	Ability to undertake extended archival research trips abroad.
	Strong commitment to research ethics, transparency, and high-quality scholarship.
	Regular on-site presence at the Aleksanteri Institute (Helsinki).


What we offer

The salary for the position will be based on level 5 of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal performance. The annual gross salary is €42,000 - €49,000.

In Finnish universities, the teaching and research staff (app. 65% of total staff) have a special system regarding the free time equivalent to holiday. They belong to the 1,612 annual working hour system, in which the annual amount of paid holiday is app. 5-6 weeks on average per year.

About the opportunity

The Centre for Continuing Education team is seeking a highly motivated Administrative Officer to provide high-level administrative and customer service support. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

As the first point of contact for students, facilitators, and visitors, you will deliver exceptional customer service and ensure smooth day-to-day operations. You will also take ownership of course scheduling, facilitator engagement, and reporting tasks to support the team's objectives.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	deliver onsite administrative services via phone, email, and in person, ensuring professional and timely support is provided to staff, facilitators, students, clients, and visitors
	coordinate course planning and scheduling, liaising with facilitators and internal stakeholders
