Established in 2010, the Instituto Superior Politécnico do Moxico is a public higher education institution based in Luena, the capital of Moxico province, Angola. It was created to expand higher education opportunities in the region.
Initially, the institute offered courses through two departments: health, with nursing and clinical laboratory programmes, and education, providing degrees in mathematics, physics, chemistry and geography teaching.
In 2011, the Department of Technical Sciences and Engineering was introduced, offering computer science courses, and in 2012, accounting and administration programmes were added, bringing the total number of undergraduate courses to eight. At this time, the institute had approximately 1,400 students.
In 2021, the Instituto Superior Politécnico do Moxico gained autonomy.
The institute aims to lead in professional training and scientific research within Moxico, building partnerships that support regional and national development.
