Key Responsibilities Plan and lead the development and implementation of a research strategy in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, building national and international reputation. Contribute to curriculum development, ensuring innovative approaches to learning, teaching, and assessment that reflect international best practice. Represent and enhance the reputation of the Department, Faculty, and University through scholarly outputs, academic networking, and engagement with professional bodies. Take on leadership and management roles within the Department, including the appointment, development, and performance of academic teams. Essential Qualifications and Experience PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a closely related field. An international profile of excellence in research, with a sustained record of high-quality publications in leading peer-reviewed journals. Strong evidence of success in securing major national and international competitive research grants, and in leading large-scale, externally funded research projects. Proven record of excellence in teaching and learning, with experience of curriculum design, innovation, and quality assurance. Demonstrated academic leadership, including mentoring PhD students, junior colleagues and contributing to departmental and faculty strategy. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong internal and external collaborations. Your Remuneration, Benefits and Support The successful candidate will be offered a five-year contract that may be extended by mutual agreement. Salary is negotiable within the professorial range, depending on skills and experience. A comprehensive benefits package is provided, including accommodation allowance, insurance, schooling support, home flight allowance, relocation and repatriation support, and paid annual leave. Join the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS) as a British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter and Deaf Services Advisor and make a meaningful impact in the lives of cochlear implant users and their families. You will have a unique opportunity to further your career by using your clinical skills within a University setting allowing you to access up-to-date research in this field.  We have 2 part-time (21 hours) permanent vacant posts.  As a BSL Interpreter, you will play a vital role in supporting Deaf patients and their families throughout their cochlear implant journey—from assessment and surgery to rehabilitation and follow-up care. You’ll work closely with audiologists, rehabilitationist, ENT consultants, and other professionals to ensure clear, culturally sensitive communication at every stage. In this role, you’ll lead the marine science and aquaculture components of the project, combining chemical and molecular analyses with innovative cultivation practices to address production challenges and expand market opportunities for seaweed products. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop/produce/investigate a web-based Ship Simulation and Optimisation Software Platform. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: i. Develop naval architecure calculation and ship design tools based on analytical or empirical methods, i.e., stability calculation, resistance and propulsion estimation, weight estimation, etc. ii. Have a degree in Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering / Ocean Engineering / Other Relevant Engineering Degree. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous. Have a degree in Food Science and Technology, or Analytical Chemistry. Possessing a Master's or PhD degree will be advantageous Experience and Knowledge of operating HPLC, MALDI-TOF and Q-TOF Mass spectrometry for protein sequencing, carbohydrate/Sugar analysis, and polyphenol identification. Previous experience as lab-in-charge or equipment-in-charge will be advantageous. Able to communicate with industrial collaborators to share key findings, seek supports, or conducting commercial trials. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety, and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
