For this faculty position, we are looking for candidates with a background in business, communication or design, who have extensive experience in sustainability management. Essential 8 or more years of industry and/or applied academia experience and knowledge in enhancing environmental sustainability through sustainability management. Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of sustainability measurement and management, such as life cycle analysis, circular economy, sustainability road mapping (e.g., decarbonisation for net-zero transition), sustainability change management, and organisational sustainability strategy development. Knowledge in sustainability reporting standards and frameworks, carbon markets, and regulatory developments. Motivated to lead, develop and teach curriculum related to sustainability both for pre-employment learners and continuous education and training. Proven ability to develop sustainability solutions through applied projects. Desirable Experience in sustainability related projects with strong integration of the three pillars of sustainable development. Knowledge in sustainability-related technologies such as carbon capture, utilisation and storage, as well as business practices and models such as carbon trading and circular economy. Expertise in carbon accounting and carbon compliance rules (e.g., Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, ISO 14064, Singapore’s Carbon Tax Regime). Knowledge and experience in sustainable finance. Experience in industry-academia partnership projects, such as capstone or research projects. Experience in the development of a Community of Practice (COP) that brings together academia, industry, and public stakeholders. Successful candidates will join the Business, Communication and Design (BCD) Cluster (one of five academic clusters in SIT), as members of a team of accomplished experts who are passionate about higher education and deeply involved in industry transformation through applied research programmes. We will prioritise collegial and team-spirited candidates with either (a) an earned Ph.D. or equivalent from a reputable university with specialisation in any of the above-mentioned areas and some relevant work experience, or (b) extensive industry experience with demonstrated strong technical expertise in the above-mentioned areas. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The Research Engineer (Modelling and Simulation) will support a one-year applied research project and evaluate a mobile DC microgrid for military tactical applications. The role involves developing detailed power system models in ETAP and MATLAB/Simulink, conducting performance and reliability simulations, and analysing the behaviour of solar PV, BESS, diesel generators, and DC distribution systems. The engineer will also document modelling assumptions, prepare technical reports, support procurement and project operations, and assist in supervising student researchers. This position is ideal for candidates with strong grounding in power system modelling, microgrid technologies, and simulation-based research. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with the PI, Co-PI, and team to design a robust mobile DC microgrid for military operations. Develop detailed simulation models simulation models in ETAP and MATLAB/Simulink for solar PV arrays, battery energy storage systems (BESS), vehicle-based deployable storage, diesel generator sets and rectifiers, DC distribution bus and electrical loads. Implement and carry out simulation studies to analyse system performance under various operating conditions such as extreme weather, load variation, equipment failure and deployment constraints. Perform load flow, transient stability, reliability, and efficiency studies to evaluate microgrid architecture options. Support the integration of various generation assets into a cohesive DC microgrid model. Document modelling assumptions, system parameters, simulation results, and engineering insights for final reporting. Prepare simulation diagrams, charts, and technical specifications for submission. Assist with procurement of software licences and technical equipment. Conduct Risk Assessments and ensure compliance with WSH regulations. Support supervision of capstone project students involved in the project. Work independently and collaboratively to maintain research software and project tools. To communicate and liaise with any internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field from a recognised university. Knowledge and experience in modelling and simulation of microgrids or power systems using ETAP and/or MATLAB/Simulink. Experience in distributed energy resources (DERs), PV, BESS, diesel gensets, or DC microgrids is highly advantageous. Familiarity with energy management systems, microgrid control strategies, or predictive/dynamic control will be an advantage. The Research Fellow / Engineer (Building-Grid Interaction Design) will contribute to a two-year applied research project funded by the BCA, focusing on the development of a power grid interactive building or cluster of buildings. The role involves designing and implementing monitoring, visualization and control system to coordinate multiple energy sources including battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar PV, and diesel generators, and dynamically interacting with building management system to shed signficant loads under varying operating conditions. The research staff will develop, simulate, and test controller logic using MATLAB/Simulink or similar environments, analyse performance across diverse scenarios, and document results for technical reporting. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong foundation in modern facilities management, mechanical and electrical engineering and energy efficiency management. The Faculty of Medicine wishes to appoint an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer, hosted by one of the following clinical specialties: Public Health, Paediatrics or Ophthalmology. The post is intended for an applicant within any of these three specialities, with the speciality of the final (single) post dependent on the successful applicant. The post-holder will be pursuing their development of research and teaching within either the Primary Care, Population Science and Medical Education school, Human Development and Health school or Clinical and Experimental Sciences school of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton. Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated Research Engineer to join our team for a fixed-term project. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and validating objective texture testing methods that can accurately categorize foods within the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) framework, with a specific focus on Level 5 (Minced & Moist). This role will involve designing custom test fixtures, conducting practical laboratory work, and performing data analysis to create a robust and reliable testing protocol. Key Responsbilities: Conduct a comprehensive literature review on food rheology, texture analysis, particle analysis, image analysis and the IDDSI framework. Design and execute experiments to develop new instrumental texture analysis methods suitable for IDDSI Level 5 foods. Validate new methods against existing standards and a sensory panel to ensure accuracy and clinical relevance. Collect, analyze, and interpret data from instrumental and sensory evaluations. Document all experimental procedures, findings, and analyses in technical reports and prepare presentations to industry stakeholders and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
