A “New” Scientific Institution

Institut Polytechnique de Paris is a public higher education and research institution that brings together 5 French Engineering Graduate Schools, forming part of the elite Grandes Écoles tradition in France:

  • École Polytechnique,
  • ENSTA Paris,
  • ENSAE Paris,
  • Télécom Paris,
  • Télécom SudParis.

Established on May 2019, Institut Polytechnique de Paris capitalizes on the 200 years of expertise in science and technology of its 5 founding Schools. The Schools have contributed to major industrial and technological innovations and discoveries.

The Institute welcomes 8,500 students each year; 35% of whom are international students with 88 nationalities represented on campus from all over the world.

Students are admitted through a very selective recruitment process and receive a high-quality education from a community of 1,000 faculty members and experts who are renowned in their fields. Institut Polytechnique de Paris develops multidisciplinary education from Bachelor to PhD levels and research programs in a wide range of fields.

High-Quality Research & Innovation

Research activities of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris are conducted within the 30 high-end laboratories of its five founding Schools and within its new interdisciplinary centers and thanks to numerous strategic partnerships with private and public research partners. Students are encouraged to develop their own projects and have access to entrepreneurship training and innovation learning facilities such as fabLab, e-lab, design studios and incubators. Students also benefit from close links with companies and research centers.

An International Campus Close To Paris

Set in a unique 200-hectare site, the campus is located in one of the eight leading innovation clusters in the world. It offers students free and unrestricted access to the large resources of its 6 libraries. It provides places to eat, numerous indoor and outdoor sporting facilities and student associations. Student residences either are on campus or located in the cities nearby and in Paris. The campus is easily accessible by public transportation, allowing students to take advantage of the economic dynamism and rich cultural life of the French capital.


Cycle Ingénieur Programs

Each School at Institut Polytechnique de Paris has its own 3-year (or 4-year) Engineering program. A highly selective entrance examination is open to international students who have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate studies. It offers a customizable and broad multidisciplinary scientific and technical education. The programs allow strong interactions with companies and laboratories and include solid competences in management, law, economics and social sciences.

Masters Programs

Institut Polytechnique de Paris offers Master’s programs in fundamental and applied sciences in a wide range of fields with an international focus. Taught by leading academics and renowned experts, they prepare graduates to engineer industrial innovations.

PhD Tracks

PhD Tracks are five-year integrated Master and PhD Programs offering top students a selective and personalized curriculum with training periods at laboratories and the opportunity to focus gradually on their thesis subject.

PhD programs

Institut Polytechnique de Paris welcomes young researchers to its 30 laboratories to work on their thesis research during a 3-year PhD program. Students benefit from the partnerships with major national and international research institutes (CNRS, INRIA, CEA, INSERM, ONERA…) and with high-tech companies and major multinational groups.

Some Schools at Institut Polytechnique de Paris also offer Bachelor of ScienceMaster of Science & Technology and Post-Master degrees in English.
