Inönü University was founded in 1975 and opened its doors to students the following year. Inönü University is one of the largest public universities in eastern Turkey.
The university is located in Malatya, a city in the Eastern Anatolia region of Turkey.
The university is organised into 14 faculties: dentistry, pharmacy, education, arts and sciences, fine arts and design, nursing, law, economics and administrative sciences, theology, communication, engineering, health sciences, sport sciences, and medicine. Each faculty offers a selection of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
There are also four vocational schools within the university: vocational school of justice, Malatya vocational school, Malatya organised industrial zone vocational school, and the vocational school of health services.
The university is home to Turgut Özal Medical Centre, one of the largest research and teaching hospitals in the world. The 1,400 bed hospital provides medical care and treatment to patients across Turkey and from neighbouring countries.
There are a number of institutes within the university that facilitate academic and scientific research projects throughout the year. These include the Institute of Educational Sciences, the Institute of Liver Transplant, and the Institute of Social Sciences.
