Information Technology University is a public university in the city of Lahore, Pakistan, which focuses on the areas of science, technology and engineering.

The university is modelled after Massachusetts Institute of Technology, through focus on cross-disciplinary applied research, cultivating an entrepreneurial culture in teaching and research, maintaining collaboration with the information and communication technology industry, and developing strong ties with government funding agencies.

Founded in 2012, the university has partnerships with Harvard University and also publishes the MIT Technology Review, Pakistan edition.

Currently located within the high-rise Area Software Technology Park, its permanent 183-acre campus is under construction on Barki Road in eastern Lahore.

The university is home to Pakistan’s largest startup incubator and has partnerships with IBM, EdX and the US State Department.

There are currently two faculties, of humanities and social sciences, and of business and management sciences.

Programmes offered include bachelor’s, master’s and PhDs in computer science, electrical engineering, management and technology, economics with data sciences, data science, and development, technology and policy. There is also an Executive MBA in innovation, technology and entrepreneurship.

Research centres and laboratories include the National Centre for Academic Integrity, the Embedded Computing Laboratory, the Scientometrics Lab, the Data Science Lab, the Business Analytics Lab, the Vision Processing Lab and the Innovations for Poverty Alleviation Lab.

So far, there are four student societies: the tech entrepreneur society, the artist society, the sports society and ITU Voice, which is a platform for students to engage in critical discussion on literary, social and political issues.
