About Indian Institute of Technology Indore

The Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) was founded in 2009 and places a heavy emphasis on its research programme. The institute has introduced a curriculum that requires students to spend six to nine months of their final year working on projects and internships with academic or industrial exposure. It has 80 faculty members and numerous sponsored research programmes, and several state of the art research facilities. IIT Indore has 641 publications, 13 patents, 81 sponsored research projects, 72 running projects, nine completed projects and a total sanctioned amount of Rs2.6 million. The institute’s three schools are: Engineering; Sciences; and Humanities and Social Sciences. The total number of courses offered is 527, out of which 288 are undergraduate courses, 239 are postgraduate courses and there are about 50 doctoral courses. IIT Indore is extending its influence in the social sphere through its outreach programme led entirely by a students – a group named AVANA that offers education and social welfare packages free of cost to local schools and villages.
