Faculty of Educational Sciences invites applications for the position of ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE OR FULL PROFESSOR OF EDUCATION LEADERSHIP The assistant or associate professorship will be filled as a fixed-term tenure track position. Further information on the University of Helsinki's tenure track system is available on the University website. The appointment is to begin on 1 January 2027.  Job overview Shifts in Finnish society, including growing diversification and inequality, require management studies to embrace new perspectives and approaches to management development. The appointee will research and develop educational management and management education. A broad familiarity with educational management is required, and may relate to areas such as pedagogical management, educational and learning management in various organisations, or the management of educational and school communities. Teaching responsibilities will span the degree programmes coordinated by the Faculty of Educational Sciences, with a particular emphasis on a master’s programme currently in development in educational and learning management. The appointee will be responsible for not only undergraduate but also doctoral education in the field.  The assistant, associate or full professorship is linked to the development of the educational and teaching sector ecosystem within the EDUCA Flagship. The appointee will be responsible for the following: Promoting information collection, analysis and application in the field, including the development of information collection practices Advancing research in the management of the educational and teaching sector Developing the theoretical framework of and research into the pedagogical management of teachers and the workplace Leading EDUCA’s Educational Design Research projects to investigate and address challenges in teacher and principal training Developing new research settings, research reporting and stakeholder partnerships Fostering international research projects and networks involving educational and teaching sector management Participating in international education export and development projects in the field. Qualification requirements and appointment criteria  Associate and assistant professors within the tenure track system must hold an applicable doctoral degree and be capable of conducting independent scholarly work, alongside the requisite teaching skills. Research relevant to the professorship’s field is considered an asset. In addition, the appointee must be capable and willing to promote their academic career through publications and other means, and develop teaching, learning and research in the field. The assessment of applicant qualifications considers not only research and teaching merits, but also success in securing external research funding and experience in domestic and international research projects.  Full professors must hold an applicable doctoral degree and possess advanced academic qualifications, experience in leading scholarly research, the requisite teaching skills and evidence of success in securing external research funding and international collaboration in their research field. Applicants must be able to deliver teaching based on top-level research and supervise theses. The position also requires academic leadership skills. The assessment of applicant qualifications considers both scholarly and teaching-related qualifications.  Scholarly qualifications encompass relevant publications and other academically valuable research results, success in securing external research funding, international research experience, as well as academic responsibilities and elected positions, and international relations. Teaching qualifications encompass teaching experience and pedagogical training, the ability to produce learning material, other teaching merits and, if necessary, a demonstration of teaching skills and participation in training doctoral researchers. Also considered are applicants’ leadership and interaction skills and their active contribution to the academic community and public engagement. In addition, the appointment committee will review applicants’ views on the development of research and teaching in the field. The assessment of shortlisted applicants will consider statements by external experts and interviews carried out by the appointment committee. Description The Future-Generation of Resilient and Infrastructure Design Technology Hub (Future-GRID TecH) in the Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit one motivated post-doctoral associate (or research scientist for experienced candidates with 5 years of post-PhD experience). The candidate will work under the supervision of Future-GRID TecH director Dr. Mohamed Moustafa to carry out cutting-edge research in the broad area of future structures and resilient infrastructure systems with interest in applications of new and emerging technologies. Particular areas of interest include: structural 3D printing (metals, concrete, and composites) computational mechanics and structural topology optimization vision-based structural health monitoring autonomous and drone-based infrastructure inspection and vibration monitoring Successful candidates must hold a PhD degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Material Engineering. Other related field such as Computer Science, Nuclear Engineering, and Material Science are also welcomed. Required qualifications include: strong communication and presentation skills; a track record in writing and publishing peer-reviewed journal publications; and previous or relevant experience in mentoring or supervising undergraduate student research or junior graduate students. A formal training, education, or certification in a secondary area (beyond the main PhD focus) such as additive manufacturing, advanced/hybrid manufacturing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, robotics, UAVs, etc. is a plus. Research Fellow in High Power Fibre Lasers

A Research Fellow position is available for a highly motivated and talented researcher with a strong interest in high power fibre lasers to work on a project within the EPSRC Programme Grant on Smart Fibre-Optic High-Power Photonics (HiPPo). The HiPPo programme (https://www.hippo-laser.co.uk/) is focused on understanding how to control the properties of fibre lasers, to go beyond the “fixed” fibre lasers that are currently used in manufacturing and towards “smart” fibre lasers that are automatically reconfigured and optimised in real-time. The aim is to revolutionise manufacturing by developing the next generation of reconfigurable, scalable, resilient, power efficient, 'smart' fibre laser tools for modern day manufacturing. Our research vision for HiPPo includes the development of new smart fibre optic technologies that can handle high-power photonics applications. This includes the design and fabrication of novel fibre optic components and systems that can withstand high optical powers and enable new functionalities over a range of operating wavelengths. The primary objective of this specific project is to explore new approaches for power scaling of fibre lasers operating in the two-micron wavelength band to the kilowatt regime motivated by the needs of applications such as industrial laser processing. The project will involve close collaboration with other members of the HiPPo project team working on a range of topics in the field of high-power lasers. Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent professional qualifications and experience) in Physics, Engineering or a related discipline. Applications will also be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. Applicants should have excellent experimental and analytical skills preferably with experience in the design of fibre and/or solid-state lasers together with hands-on experience operating lasers in the multi-watt power regime. Alongside these, the Centre for Intelligent Robotics at Punggol Digital District, together with the SIT–NVIDIA AI Centre, gives staff and students authentic cyber-physical environments in which to develop, integrate, and stress-test new technologies under realistic operating conditions. In parallel, SIT works closely with the maritime ecosystem on decarbonisation and digitalisation. Through its Future Ship and System Design Programme and partnerships with DNV's Maritime Decarbonisation & Autonomy Regional Centre of Excellence, Seatrium's Offshore & Marine Digital Learning Lab, RINA, and MPA-linked initiatives, SIT engages directly with shipowners, yards, classification societies, and regulators on zero-emission and autonomous vessels, shore charging and future-fuel bunkering, digital twins, and AI-enabled remote operations. Taken together, these platforms, the deep industry partnership network across the energy and maritime sectors and next-generation AI and robotics use cases, provide an exciting ecosystem of real assets, operators, and operational problems to which security, resilience, and safe-operation research can be applied, tested, and translated into practice. Areas of interest in OT cybersecurity This search prioritises practitioners. We are looking, first and foremost, for candidates with substantial, hands-on experience defending real-world industrial environments as asset owners, operators, integrators, consultants, or responders, who can bring that operational experience, engineering constraints and sector-relevant problems into the classroom and the lab. We welcome accomplished academics, but the strongest candidates will have spent significant time on plant floors, in control rooms, and inside live OT networks and environments. Candidates should be able to translate that field experience into rigorous, hands-on teaching, authentic learning experiences, and useful, industry-relevant outcomes. About Us The Department of Psychology and Human Development comprises a diverse, student-focused team of academics who deliver high-quality BPS-accredited degrees in Psychology. In addition to the BSc Psychology, we also provide undergraduate degrees in Psychology with Child Development, Clinical and Community Psychology, Forensic Psychology, as well as a hugely popular MSc Psychology (conversion) course and Masters routes in Coaching Psychology accredited by the EMCC among our applied psychology programmes. Many of our courses can be taken by distance learners and our breadth of provision incorporates a Foundation course in Psychology as well as a thriving research-based PhD programme. The psychology department is ranked #24 out of 115 in the Guardian’s 2026 league table for best Universities at which to study Psychology. About the job This full-time lecturing role (1.0 FTE) requires the provision of top-quality learning experiences and administrative support for our student cohorts at both BSc and MSc levels. The work will include face-to-face teaching, online supplementary delivery where relevant, supervision of student research projects, setting and managing assessments, and providing academic advisory support in group and individual settings. The post requires expertise related to social psychology. Applicants for Senior Lectureship will be required to evidence and to undertake significant leadership roles. The role requires providing top-quality teaching and administrative support to our student cohorts. The work will include face-to-face teaching, online supplementary delivery where relevant, supervision of student research projects, setting and managing assessments, and providing academic advisory support in group and individual settings. Job share can be considered. About You We are looking for an experienced lecturer to teach social psychology and related psychological approaches (including research methods) at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The post requires expertise in social psychology: we are looking for colleagues who can deliver Social Psychology, Research Methods (especially qualitative) and who can deliver supervision for student research projects at BSc and/or MSc levels. Ability to teach Coaching Psychology/Positive Psychology would be welcomed in addition. You will have a research background and interest in Social Psychology and will already hold a relevant PhD.
